Wizkid is launching a Pan-African arm of his record label Starboy Entertainment. The singer who has had the Nigerian arm of the label running since 2013 has his eyes set on expansion throughout the continent.

His first batch of non-Nigerian artistes who have been signed to his record label includes Ghanaian group R2bees, sultry songstress Efya, and raving Nigerian-born singer Mr Eazi. Omar Sterling (Paedae) will be the new president of the outfit, and they will seek to push through with new music, uniting West Africa in a synergy between two strong entertainment hubs.

Efya

Jane Fara Fauzzier Afia Boafowaa Yahaya Awindor (born April 10, 1987), better known by her stage name Efya, is a Ghanaian neo soul vocalist, songwriter, performer and actress from Kumasi.

She is the daughter of Nana Adwoa Awindor, a filmmaker and celebrity host of the late television show Greetings From Abroad. Efya got her first exposure to fame when she participated in the maiden edition of the Stars of the Future talent show. She won the Best Female Vocal Performance category at the Ghana Music Awards in four succession, beginning in 2011. Moreover, she was applauded for her performance at the 2013 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards.

Her debut mixtape, T.I.N.T, was released on November 11, 2013; it consists of songs that were released between 2011 and 2013. The mixtape was supported by the singles ‘Getaway’ and ‘Best In Me’.

On April 22, 2016, she released her long awaited debut studio album "Janesis". It was previously scheduled for release at different times between 2013 to 2015. "Forgetting Me", the album's lead single, was released on January 11, 2014.

Mr Eazi

Mr Eazi, born July 19, had his basic and secondary education in Lagos, Nigeria and university education in Ghana.

Mr Eazi first discovered his passion to make music when he started recording music for free at PeeWee and Klumonsta studios, where he released his breakthrough single ‘Pipi dance’ and also recorded his first mixtape “About To Blow” produced by Klumonsta. He went on to record ‘Bankulize’ Remix which was a single of the “About To Blow” mixtape with UK based Ghanaian frontline producer DJ Juls. This new mix propelled Mr Eazi to stardom and paved the way for other hit songs like ‘Skin tight’, ‘Hollup’ and ‘Sample you’ .

Branding his Genre “Banku Music” (A subset of Afrobeats ) which is characterized by laid back (itis-like) deliveries on majorly afro-soulful instrumentals, influenced by his Ghanaian/Nigerian cultural upbringing.  Mr Eazi is the fast-rising Afro-beats artist with four hit singles already to his credit.

He currently shuttles between Nigeria and Ghana at the moment for both music, business and family. Mr Eazi is managed by Meister Music, a Ghana based record label that is focused on projecting Africa’s new sound to the world.

R2bees

R2Bees is a Ghanaian hip hop and hiplife duo from Tema made up of Faisal Hakeem (Paedae da Pralem now Omar Sterling) and Rashid Mugeez (Mugeez).

Both born and raised in Tema, east of the country’s capital city – Accra in Ghana, West Africa. Paedae is the CEO and leader of the group, whilst Mugeez is the lead vocalist. The two cousins, who have been together their whole life, lived in the same house and also attended the same primary, junior and secondary school in Tema.

R2bees released their first single in August 2008 titled ‘Yawa Gal’, and became an instant hit. They then went onto releasing ‘I Dey Mad’, a chart topper across Ghana. In 2010, R2Bees featured one of Nigeria’s biggest stars Wande Coal on their track ‘Kiss your hand’, as their third single. The video was criticized but R2Bees did not come out with any explanation. In 2009, R2Bees released a 17-track album Da Revolution. In 2013, they released their second studio album, the "Refuse To Be Broke – Da Revolution II", at place at the Silver Lounge at the Accra Mall. The duo have been nominated and won awards all around the continent and beyond.
