NEW COMPUTER – Toshiba today announced the Satellite Radius 12, the world’s first 12.5-inch 4K convertible laptop.

The portable 2-in-1 system can be configured with a 3,840-by-2,160-resolution IPS touch-screen display, and is powered by sixth-generation Intel Core processors. The Satellite Radius 12 weighs just 2.8 pounds, and includes a 360-degree hinge to switch between its five viewing modes. It will be available in the fourth quarter of 2015, with the price yet to be revealed.

The system will also be among the first machines to include facial authentication for Windows 10 through the Windows Hello feature. This allows users to log into the laptop instantly through the on-board camera, without having to type a password. The Satellite Radius 12 comes in a carbon gray brushed-metal finish and includes an LED-backlit keyboard.

Toshiba promises high performance with low power consumption, which should result in a longer battery life. The convertible is made with Windows 10 in mind, and its graphics and processor should be powerful enough to take advantage of new features such as Xbox game streaming with DirectX 12 support.
