THIS GUIDE IS NOT FINISHED

It's the holiday weekend, and I've only spent a few (like 20) hours on this. I will be updating this frequently until it's completed. I still have to add in links, pictures and like like half of the content, so please be patient with me.

Don't make kitty cry. D;

If you have any comments/questions on things I have already posted, NOT WHAT'S MISSING, then feel free to do to so. I will update this post when it is completed.

This guide will have all the basic information needed if one has never played Phantasy Star Universe before. There is an interesting guide for those whom have played Phantasy Star Online and would like to see what's different in Universe here.

&How to download/install PSU:Clementine

**Note:Do not full screen any other program, while running PSU:C, itwill crash. Don't click off of fullscreen mode PSU:C, it will crash.

Edit settings before entering the game.

Connect controller, select option B (button 9)

Select the top server.

&Story
Find lore here.

&Character Creation
If you're concerned about stats, race does matter, sex does not. The differences are minimal, but they are there. There is a small description of each race on the create screen. If you would like more information on their stats, please look here (stat discription) and here (percentages.)

&Types/Class
Types or classes in this game range from melee (Figh), ranged (Gun), and magic (Tech). Depending on your race, you will spawn as either Hunter (HU), Ranger (RA), or Techer (TE). You will be given a default set of weapons with PA's already equipped. After leveling these base types, you can switch to more powerful types (Forte or Master) or hybrid types (Figh/Gun/Tech.) For more info on types, click here.

&Creation

Spoiler:

Shift+arrow keys/left stick controls box, CTRL+arrow keys/right stick controls camera.
There are more clothing/part options available, but they are expensive, just so you're aware! There are more hairstyles as well, and those are free.
Note** After character creation, you can rechange everything except your characters proportions. Your account is based around an ID number, not by character name, so feel free to name your character anything you wish, at your own risk.

If prompted with a Japanese text box, keep answering randomly till it works. (I don't know the correct pattern yet.)

**Note: Right now character exp is at x2, photon arts exp is at x50 and meseta drop is at x10. Since this is a test server, these rates are subject to change when the real server is released.

&Movement
To move use, WASD or left stick. Camera with shift+arrows or right stick.
Pressing start or F1-7 will open up the menu. F8, F9, and F12 will open up the chat logs.

&First Mission / How to fight

Spoiler:

Unsafe Passage should be your first mission. Go up the stairs or take the elevator up to the 4th floor. Go to the right front side. Run into the entrance marked “Linear Line Platform.” Select the top option, “Unsafe Passage C.” You can edit your party name, set drops, set password here. When you're ready, start the mission.

To basic attack/shoot/tech, press down arrow or A/X button. To use your PA (photon art if weapon has one) press right arrow or B/O button. Time your melee attacks/PA's to do “just attacks” which hit harder. You can tell it's a JA (just attack) when a gold circle appears around your character. To switch weapon slots on your palette, hold E key or B/O, then use arrow keys or d-pad to select a different set. You can also select healing items on the left of that menu. Hold up arrow or right bumper to switch between two single hand weapons, like sword and pistol for example. (To change hold to click: Menu>System>Options>Weapon/TECHNIC swap.)
To edit your party information mid-mission, go to Menu>Community>Party.
*Crystal on your left connects to the lobby and other blocks (stages in the mission.)

Head down the hallway till monsters spawn. Effects will light up around your character when your character or photon art level up. Photon arts level up as you use them and become stronger. Melee PA's gain more combos, bullets' status effects become greater and techs become larger. Press left arrow or left bumper to strafe/target creatures. When the reticle changes from blue to red, that means they are in striking distance. When you use PA's it uses your weapons power (PP or power points.) Your weapons PP regenerates naturally, but slow. It also gains PP when you base attack monsters with it (for melee weapons only.)

Continue through the mission, killing the mobs that spawn. Press R key or left on the D-pad to auto run. Some doors will be locked and you will need a key to unlock them. Keys are normally found after a spawn of enemies are taken down. Try to kill every monster you come across. When you get to Linear Line: Transfer Terminal, you'll see a new lobby.

Unsafe Passage is currently broken and will not finish, so you will have to cancel the mission. (It's the easiest mission, which is why I suggested to run it first.) Go to Menu>Community>Party>Leader rights>Abandon mission>Yes. Now, head to the glowing rainbow cube near the npc. Use it to restore your weapons PP. The red npc next to use is an item vendor. He sells heal and buffs items to be used during missions. You can also sell the items you find in game for meseta. *Currently item synthesis (crafting) is not working, therefor the items for it are useless at the moment, so feel free to sell them. Hit Esc key or B/O button to exit the npc.

&Next mission

Spoiler:

When you're ready to progress, head to the doors on the right and enter the counter. Select any “Fight for Food C” missions and start it. Run through like you did previously. When you kill the giant plant monster, the mission will be completed. To see your rating and gain your MP, hit Z key or L3 to select the star icon and enter/A/X. You will receive a score for your mission. If you missed any mob spawn or died, your score will decrease from S to B or C. Always try to find and kill every spawn, and do your best not to die. Head towards the next gate to continue.

You can not leave this lobby naturally. Either type “/city” into your dialogue box (hit spacebar to prop it up) or go back to the orange diamond near the door and select “Return to City.” This should return you back to 4th floor.
Note** You can also use these orange diamonds to switch universes (servers). The stars represent the universe's population.

Your next stop is up to you. You can buy weapons/armor/PAs, change your look, do more missons, or just explore.

&Going to other planets

Spoiler:

On 4th floor, there are three gates to your right. The purple gate will take you to Neudaiz. Asain-themeed home of Newmans and location for TECHNIC weapons.) The yellow gate takes you to Moatoob, a rough-land where Beasts roam and select melee weapons. The blue gate will send you to Parum. CASTs have claimed this city-filled planet and most guns are also found here.

To get to a planet, simply run into the gate and you'll be sent to the planet selection screen. From here you can select the general/central area of a planet, it's GUARDIANS branch, or it's specific shop. When you want to leave the planet, simply head back to the PPT Spaceport and select any planet/place again. If you get lost, simple type in “/city” or “Return to city” from an orange diamond, and you'll be teleported to the PPT Spaceport.

&Lobbies

Spoiler:

Since PSUC is an instance-based MMO, there are many lobbies within it. Every place you go is technically a lobby. The central areas at the three planets and 4th floor on GUARDAINS Colony have mission counters, but there are many more. Since there are so many, you can take shortcuts to get to other lobbies instantly. Look for a specific female CAST npc. There is one of her at every planet. Talk to her and select “Standard flight.” You will get a list of all the available lobbies you can go to. It will ask for a fee, but this will not actually be charged, it will be free to use. After selecting a lobby, you will be transferred straight there.
NPC Locations:
Clyez City - 4th floor - There are two.
Neudaiz – Central District - Take the bridge to the right, and head towards the palace entrance.
Moatoob – Central District – Head to the right, and look towards the far wall.
Parum - East District – Go straight.

&Missions

Spoiler:

If you would like to run missions, you will have to go to the appropriate mission gate. Some gates have multiple missions, others have none. Here is a guide to the missions, their correct lobbies, and the lobbies they're connected to. You can also get each missions information from this page as well.

*Not all missions are complete-able at this time. Here's a guide to what is currently working.

Just starting out, try to stick to missions near your level. Once you level up your character, class, PA's and have better gear, or group up, try out harder missions.

To level your type (class), you must complete missions to receive missions points (MP.) **Currently, all missions will give the same MP reward. Your reward is based on the score you receive. Killing all monsters and having no deaths will give you the highest rank. (Ranking is on a scale of C to S, along with the difficulty of the missions. C level missions are easier, S level+ are harder. Getting a C ranking is failing, getting an S ranking is 100% success.)
Here is the current listing:
Mission Level – Mission Points Received with an S Ranking
C – 20
B – 32
A – 80
S – 180
S2 – 260
S3 – 360

&Chat Functions/Lobby Actions

Spoiler:

To chat with other players, simply press spacebar, type, and enter to send. You can use emotes by pressing down-arrow or X/square button. Select one using enter/A/X. You can also press and hold alt+(select button.) The list will also show you the hotkeys to the corresponding emotes. Some emotes you have to hold to use. Also, you can do the opposite sex animations by pressing shift+alt+(select button.)
**Note: Keyboard functions (hotkeys) are disabled when you are in a menu or chat windows.

There are many chat functions that you an do. You can change font color, the type of dialalogue box, include emotes and even face-cut ins! For the full list of what you can do, please see here.

Holding shift while you hit enter will add in a shout box. Holding ctrl while you hit enter will add a bubble (thinking) box. Holding tab while pressing enter will give you a selection for face cut-ins. Use arrow keys or D-pad to cycle through them, then press enter to send out the text. These can be used in combination (hold shift+tab then enter for example.)

Use can also use text shortcuts rather than the keyboard to edit your chat. For a small example, press spacebar then type:
/altf2@c10 {red}Hello!

/alt# for emotes (/salt# for opposite sex emotes)
@c for bubble box
@s for shout box
## First digit is for emote of cut-in (listed 0-9), and second digit is for the angle (listed 0-3).
*Make sure to put a space after your commands for your text.
{color} changes the color of your text

There are also shortcut options you can use to keep favorite phrases and use them quickly. Go to Menu>Community>Shortcuts. Pressing L key or right on the D-Pad will bring up your shortcut list. Scroll through them with I/K or up/down on the D-pad. To use it, simple press L/right D-pad again. Cancel the shortcut with J key or left on the D-pad.

The text above a characters name is a status message. You can change your status message in Menu>Community>Status. You can also add in {color} to change the color of your text. List of colors can be located [urlhttp://psupedia.info/Chat_macros.html]here.

&Grouping

Spoiler:

To invite another player to your party, highlight them and select them with enter or A/X. Hit “Invite to party.” To accept a party request, you'll see a small icon on the bottom left of your screen, press Z or L3 to highlight the party icon and accept the invitation.
It's possible to join parties mid-mission as long as the party is not locked. Run to a mission counter and select “Join a party.” A list of available parties will show if there are any. *Right now, the party list is glitched and only shows the first party, and nothing else. This will be fixed in time.

You can also simple mail (in-game messaging) other players in this menu, as well as give them your card. Giving yours and receiving others cards can let you contact players from any lobby *as long as they're in the same universe. It's kind of like a friends list, except you can choose who adds you.
**Note: Sending your card to them does not mean you will get their card. They will have to manually send you theirs.
You can also add players to your blacklist if you so desire. Blacklisting a character will block and communication from that accounts ID (so any character on that account) and will not allow that player's account to join parties you are currently in.
**Note: They will still be able to see your chat and you will not be blocked from joining parties they are in.
You can remove players cards or from your blacklist from the Community section in your menu.

**Note: Trading is currently disabled on the server at this time.

&Shops

Spoiler:

There are shops in every planet, but most are found on 2nd floor in Clyez City. There is a shop for room items (*rooms are currently unavailable), shop for grinding weapons (*also unavailable at this time), synthesis items (*another feature that is not unlocked yet), mission items (like health and buff items), weapons, and armor/units. The green shop of the left is the item shop, the orange one is the weapons shop, and the blue one is the shield/unit shop.

Weapon Shops
Parum, Neudaiz, and Moatoob have shops as well. They all have clothing, parts, synthesis and weapon shops. *Currently all clothing/parts can be purchased on 3rd floor in Clyez City. (Parts for CASTs and clothing for the other races.) In the planets weapon shops, the npcs to the far right sell weapons. On Clyez City, the npcs to the left in the weapons shop sell weapons. Here's a weapon list and which shop to find them at:

Neudaiz – Yomei Shop: Crossbows, rods, wands, longbows, cards (fans), and TSCMs (tech mags.)

Moatoob – TENORA WORKS Shop: Double sabers, axes, twin claws, claws, whips, knuckles, spears, and daggers.

Parum – G.R.M. Shop: Shotguns, laser cannons, twin pistols, pistols, slicers, rifles, grenade launchers, machine guns, and RCSMs (ranged mags.)

GUARDIANS Colony (Clyez City) – 2nd:Floor: Swords, sabers, slicers, pistols, twin sabers, and twin daggers.
To purchase items, highlight it, select it, then hit “Buy.” You can also compare weapons/units stats to what you currently have on you. If an item is green in a shop, it means you already own it (it's currently in your possession.)

Each weapon shop has npcs for photon arts as well. Any of them sell all the PA's of certain types (melee, bullets, and technics.)

*Currently, you can only buy armor and units at 2nd floor Clyez City armor shop.

*Weapons/Armor currently have a set price.
10 meseta for C rank
100 meseta for B rank
1000 meseta for A rank
10000 meseta for S rank

&Weapons

Spoiler:

Weapons come in rankings C-S and they have star ratings. C is low powered, S is high powered. 1* is very common, 15* is the rarest. Stats on weapons are as follows,
>PP – Power points: Allow you to use photon arts such as different melee combos, adding status effects and elements to bullets, or using technics through wands, rods and TSCMs. High PP means more charge or times you can use said PA's.
>Att. - Attack: Strength of the weapon. Higher attack, more damage.
>Acc. - Accuracy: Simply, the how accurate the weapon the weapon is. Higher accuracy, more it will land hits.
**Note: Hitting for zero damage is considered a miss.
>Tech. - Technic: The power in which is added to TECHNICs when using this weapon. It's like Att, but for tech (spell) power instead.
The bracketed numbers to the side tell you your combat stats when using the specific weapon.
The icon on the weapon shows where the weapon was manufactured (not bought!) They are label straight-forwardly, accept Kubara. These are “black market” items that are sometimes copies of other weapons or are sacred relics which should not be distrubted.
*The 0/10 is a weapons grind. The higher you grind a weapon, the more stats are added to it. Currently, you cannot grind weapons in PSUC.
ATP/ATT/TEC req. - The number your attack power, accuracy power, or technic power stat has to be in order to equip the weapon. If there is an X next to the weapon, or states, “X Cannot equip: type/race,” then you are unable to equip that item due to either type (class) or race.

Click here for more info on weapons.
To equip/unequip weapons, go to Menu>Items>Weapons. From here you can select a weapon and either add or remove it from your palette. You get six set slots to edit from. Weapons with a blue box next to them are already equipped to your palette. Add the weapon to an empty slot, or over an existing one. To remove it, either re-equip another weapon over it or select it again and it will be removed. Hit backspace or B/O to go back to the weapon menu. You can also select the weapon and add photon arts to it. Choose, “Link photon art” and a list of photon arts will appear for that specific weapon. Select a PA and it will be equipped to the weapon. You can only have one melee/bullet PA on a weapon at a time, but you can have two TECHNIC PA's equipped to a wand or TCSM, and four TECHNIC PA's attached to a rod. You can now use the PA on the weapon when you are in a mission.
Locking an item will stop the item from being sold to npc shops and make it unable to be traded.

**Note: Trading is disabled in the server at this time.

&Armor/Units

Spoiler:

Line Shields (armor), like weapons have their own stats. The only armor/unit store is on the 2nd floor of Clyez City. It is the blue one on the left. The npc on the right sells armors, the two on the left sell units.
Def. - Defense: Adds to your character's defense which takes off a set amount of melee/range damage per hit.
Eva. - Evasion: Adds to your character's evasion stat which heightens the chance to block attacks.
**Note: If you're evasion is high enough, your character will block incoming attacks and instead take no damage. (A shield will appear in front of your character when this happens.) If you time your attack right, you can do a “just counter,” which is like a JA (just attack) but you can do this with ANY weapon, and ANY PA.
Ment. - Mental: Adds to your character's technic defense, taking off a set amount of damage from technic attacks.
End. - Endurance: This stat when raised, it lowers the chance of your character getting status effected from attacks. (IE: burn, poison, freeze, etc.)
DFP req. - Defense points: Your characters defense stat needs to be in order to equip the armor.
Also, when highlighting an armor, it will automatically show the stat changes to the right.
Just like weapons, if there is an X next to the armor, you can not equip it, and if there's a blue box next to it, you have that armor equipped.

Armor is priced the same as weapons.

Unit's are parts you can add to your armor to customize it's stats. Armor can have a head, an arm, a body, and an extra slot. To see available unit slot on an armor, to go Menu>Items>Armor, highlight the armor, and hit Ctrl or right bumper. If the corresponding text is white, then it is an available slot for a unit. If it's gray, then it can not equip said unit. (For example, you can equip a head slot, but not an arm, body or head slot.) Certain grade units can only be paired with equally graded armor. C rank units can go on C rank armor or A rank armor. However, an A rank unit cannot be equipped to a C rank armor.)

Units can add or subtract stats, and also give other bonuses. To view them, highlight a unit and hit Ctrl or right bumper. If it does have a special effect, it will list it here. An up arrow means more, a down arrow means less.

Once you know what units your armor can equip, you can buy them from the vendors. *Currently units do not display their correct letter grade, so you will have to visit the list here to see the correct grading. To equip a unit to your armor (as long as it's capable to do so,) go to Menu>Items>Armor and select the unit you want to equip. Stats will show to the right stating what the armor will change.

Please see the guide here for more information on units.

*Units are all sold for 10 meseta each which will be changed in the real server.

>Set Bonuses
Some weapons/armor/units when worn together will give you special stat bonuses. *Unfortunately, they are not currently working.
