Gaming since 1981, the Era of CVG is almost over!

Every member of Future UK has been put on a 45-day consultation period and games website Computerandvideogames.com faces closure, sources close to Future's management have told MCV.

Sad day for loyal CVG readers, and even sadder days for the 900 staff members, as it looks like the long gaming history of CVG, which been around since 1981, is finally coming to end of its news reporting era as the new owners Future are making major changes to their business plans.

Quote:

Mass changes will happen across the board, with big alterations also being made to Total Film as well as other future games website.

MCV understands Kotaku UK, PC Gamer and Gamesradar will be safe under current plans, although that may change.

In an email to staff Future boss Zillah Byng-Maddick said that Future's business model was not 'working hard enough' and admitted 'we need to change and fast.'

The news follows a string of poor financial results, including a profit warning in March which caused the firm's share price to plummet.

Future boasts almost 900 staff and its games publications includes CVG, Edge, Gamesmaster, Gamesradar, Official Xbox, Official PlayStation and Official Nintendo. It also runs the Golden Joystick Awards and operates the UK arm of Kotaku.

As our thoughts and prays go out to 900 employees that are at risk, we here at MaxConsole, are fully ready to step-up to fill the gap for their loyal readers, as we already have a large UK membership.

So the big question is what things did you like at CVG that you would love to see us maybe bring over to enjoy here everyday for our thousands of loyal MaxConsole readers.
