Just as the latest
GMC models in Quarryville start making their way to Providence Autos, photographer Chris Doane has captured spy shots of the upcoming 2014
GMC Sierra.
"Two weeks ago, Chevy
engineers were spied testing a large group of 2014 Silverado prototypes. That
test group has now reappeared, but this time, test vehicles for the all-new GMC
Sierra have come along for the ride! Fortunately, during one of the many pauses
in testing, a Sierra prototype pulled right alongside a Silverado prototype,
making the difference between the two trucks easy to
see."1
Sierra's prototype has two
thinner crossbars and a few thin vertical bars implemented into their refreshed
grille. Sierra test trucks were seen wearing GMC wheels, with one identical to
the 2013 GMC Acadia.
GMC Sierra
1500 will include a refreshed small-block V8 with direction injection
and cylinder deactivation. An optional V6 will be offered, which might be the
3.6-liter V6 found many other GMC models, but GM is keeping quiet thus
far.
A Sierra 1500 Hybrid will
also make it to Providence Autos, powered by a V6-based hybrid
powertrain.
Heavy-duty Sierra models are
going to, reportedly, come standard with both 6.0-and-6.2-liter gas engines, as
well as the powerful 6.6-liter Duramax diesel.
2014
Sierra should begin production late April 2013 in Flint, Mich. and
Fort Wayne, Ind.
