According to the latest poll from Zoopla, it is "Proximity to good schools" for buyer, but it is reasonable to suppose that this is of equal importance to families who are renting.

Rightmove recently launched a new search function that would help renters and buyers search for a property within a certain school catchment area:

This school search tool allows you to find the schools near any UK postcode and see details about a school as well as its performance. From each school you can access nearby properties for sale or rent on Rightmove.

>>>Read the latest Ofsted reports for each school, and find more in depth information about each school with accompanying RM School Finder and Good Schools Guide information

>>>Find out the number of pupils attending each school and what type of school it is.

>>>Search for properties for sale or rent near Primary Schools, Secondary Schools and Sixth Form colleges all over the UK.

When starting to look for a property investment, I always state that you should find the demand before you create the supply.

Searching for properties in a desirable school catchment area is a great way to start the due diligence process as you know there will be strong tenant demand in that area.
