Bannerghatta Road, State Highway 87 or BG Road as its better known today is a 50 km long arterial road that links Bangalore with other towns like Anekal, Jigani and Bannerghatta. Coming under the BBMP (Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike), the stretch has rapidly developed many villages in and around it.

Accessibility

Intersecting with major arterial roads, Bannerghatta Road enjoys great connectivity. The 50 km stretch is well connected to the city via roads and rail. Private rickshaws and BMTC (Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation) buses improve inter-locality connectivity here. Branching out from Adugodi on Hosur Road, the road continues till the Anekal taluk thereby linking localities in Bangalore city with other neighborhoods like Bannerghatta, Jigani and Anekal. Enjoying great connectivity, the road passes through all the major junctions like Arekere Gare, Gottigere, Hulimavu Gate, Bannerghatta Circle, Adugodi and Koppa Gate. Through a private partnership, 5 kilometers of the Bannerghatta Road have been widened to curb traffic congestion. The highway’s intersection with the ORR (Outer Ring Road) and NICE Road have further aided its connectivity The road passes through many important localities like MICO Layout, Jayanagar, Dollars Colony, Anekal, Gottigere and Arekere Gate. The Kempagowda International Airport and Bangalore City Junction are 45 and 15 km away from this road respectively. There are many BMTC buses that help ferry individuals at regular basis.

Education

The state government has decided to increase the width of the 7.5 km of stretch of the Bannerghatta Road beginning from JD Mara Junction till Nice Road to 45 metres (147.6 feet) which is bound to bring cheer to motorists who are struggling to cope up with traffic snarls
