Blogger is a blog-publishing service that allows multi-user blogs with time-stamped entries. It was developed by Pyra Labs and bought by Google in 2003. Generally, the blogs hosted by Google are at a subdomain of blogspot.com but can be hosted in the registered custom domain of the blogger (eg. www.example.com).
Unlike WordPress, Blogger allows its users to use their own domain free of charge. Blogger cannot be installed on a web server. One has to use DNS facilities to redirect a custom URL to a blogspot domain. Blogger offers a drag-and-drop template editing interface, private blogs and Web feed option to subscribe to other blogs. Blogger is available in a vast variety of languages and can offer country-specific blogger addresses.
Users can choose to create their own templates using CSS or use any of the provided templates. Google Toolbar integrated a “BlogThis!” feature for Blogger and works with Adsense for generating revenue.
