KCR unveils another welfare scheme

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Friday announced yet another humanitarian scheme under which Rs.1000 per month would be given to single lonely women in Telangana State. KCR made the announcement in the State Assembly immediately after the Question Hour amidst thumping of desks from all sides.

The ‘living wages’ for single lonely women scheme would be implemented from next financial year and the required funds would be allocated in the budget that would be introduced in March 2017. As per preliminary estimates, there are about two to three lakh lonely women in the State, the Chief Minister said.

Stating that directions were issued to the district collectors to immediately enroll details of lonely women, the Chief Minister also appealed to all single lonely women throughout Telangana to enroll their names with the government to avail of living wages under the scheme. He also wanted the legislators to take utmost care so that only genuine lonely women only could get benefited by the new scheme.

While announcing the new scheme, the Chief Minister also took the opportunity to highlight the TRS Government’s efforts to ensure equal justice to all sections of people in the State by providing a secure life of self respect with financial stability. While most political parties confined themselves to implementing decisions in their respective manifestoes, the TRS Government was taking decisions keeping in mind the problems of the poorer sections. In this regard, he recalled the government’s decision to come to the rescue of beedi workers by sanctioning living wages of Rs.1000 per month. He also recalled other welfare schemes like Kalyana Lakshmi and Shadi Mubarak to provide financial assistance to poorer sections of society and minorities for performing marriages. –NSS
