Balakrishna meets CM, invites to premiere

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has announced Entertainment Tax exemption for Nandamuri Balakrishna’s 100th Telugu film Gautamiputra Satakarni.

Actor Balakrishna met the Chief Minister at Pragathi Bhavan on Friday and requested him to grant ET exemption to Gautamiputra Satakarni, a historical film. Responding to Balayya’s request, the Chief Minister promptly instructed the officials concerned to issue the orders to that effect.

KCR said the Telangana State government has decided to support and encourage films based on the noted historical personalities. In this context, he recalled the ET exemption given to an earlier historical film Rudrama Devi. In future too, this policy will continue, the CM said.

Thanking the Chief Minister for his gesture, Balakrishna said the entire shooting of the film was completed in a record 78 days. Besides shooting at Kotilingala in Telangana State, the film has shots at several historically important locations in the country. Balakrishna also invited the Chief Minister to watch the premiere of the film, which is to be released on January 12. Cinematography Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav, film producer Rajeev Reddy and the film presenter Srinivas were also present at the meeting.

Balayya goes to Assembly: Earlier, Balakrishna went to the State Assembly to meet the Chief Minister. On learning that KCR was not in his office there, the actor rushed to CM’s camp office. When Telangana TDP leaders saw the actor entering the Assembly premises, they gave him a tumultuous welcome. Speaking briefly, Balakrishna said as he is an actor he belongs to both the Telugu speaking States. –NSS
