Aims to transform potential rural ideas

Hyderabad: The Telangana Information Technology Association (TITA) opened the ‘Telangana Innovation & Incubation Center (TIIC)’ at IIIT Basara campus on Thursday.

Vice Chancellor Sirasani Sathyanarayana and TITA Global President Sundeep Kumar Makthala inaugurated the centre, touted as the first Techno Rural Startup Incubation Centre. TITA and T-Hub had recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding for setting up the TIIC at Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies (RGUKT), IIIT Basara.

TITA President Makthala said: “The TIIC will enable and support all the students of IIIT and youth around the village to transform their potential ideas into startups. Support also comes in the form of mentoring, funding, ideation, and knowledge support.

“IIIT Basara and TITA signed the MOU to extend their support in creating the Startup Ecosystem in IIIT Basara such as entrepreneurship with business plans, along with prototype infrastructure. Japan-based company SafeTraceHub, well known multimedia firm Prism Multimedia, and US based firm Adsidious have shown interest and given consent to extend their services in TIIC. TITA is planning to establish Telangana Incubation & Innovation Centres in all the universities and colleges across Telangana State to encourage new startups at college level.”

“The mandate of TIIC would be to generate a free flow of ideas and their implementation, in both directions of the constituent partners – RGUKT and TITA. The TIIC would help students generate startups resulting from selected ideas. These start-ups would lead to generating more employment opportunities for the rural youth of the region.

While the technical and legal support for the TIIC would be provided by TITA and its recognized channel partners, RGUKT would provide the requisite infrastructure support  such as working spaces, electricity, water, networking, bandwidth etc. The work carried out at TIIC would be selectively permitted to be utilized as a part of the mandatory project work for students, under the guidance of recognized faculty of RGUKT and TITA experts. It was also agreed that a steering committee would be set up comprising members from TITA as well as faculty of RGUKT who would see the day-to-day running of the TIIC.” said IIIT Basara VC Sathyanarayana.

In TIIC, start-ups can be established in digital media, solar energy, smart cities, telecom services, mobile technologies, cloud analytics, health care, robotics, learning management system (LMS), artificial intelligence, etc.
