PokerStars finally has achieved its goal of launching in New Jersey – well, here for now, and perhaps eventually all over the U.S.

The company announced today that March 21 will be the kickoff date.

PokerStars already has a partner – Atlantic City’s first casino.

“Resorts Casino Hotel continues to be the preferred Atlantic City partner and home for outstanding global brands,” said Morris Bailey, owner of Resorts. “First with Mohegan Sun and Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville and now, with PokerStars joining that portfolio, Resorts is poised to offer players the best online and bricks & mortar casino experiences anywhere. We expect that the launch of PokerStars will further spur the positive momentum we have already made in the New Jersey online gaming market.”

The wheels of this news were first set in motion in fall 2014, when Amaya – having just bought PokerStars one year after a state “suspension” of that company – applied to join the New Jersey fray.

That led, last fall, to conditional approval if certain conditions were met.

From there, it was as much an issue of timing as final details also were nailed down.

Company officials say that while poker is known as their specialty, other online casino games also will be offered – including online slots.

PokerStars was a very popular site in the U.S. until 2011, and their presence in New Jersey will raise the profile of all online gaming among residents.
