Someone please run and fetch us a fan and tall, cold glass of water ASAP! We just watched Janel Parrish and Valentin Chmerkovskiy perform the samba on Dancing with the Stars Season 19 Week 6, and need to cool down after all the heat these two generated. If you thought Janel’s burlesque routine was full of smoldering moves, wait until you get a load of her latest number.
After working hard to polish their turns and footwork, the 25-year-old Pretty Little Liars actress and her instructor/partner Val hit the stage with some sexy, intricate choreography. Performing to the beats of “La Vida Es Un Carnaval” by the queen of salsa, Celia Cruz, Janel proved that she can successfully tackle any dance genre with great poise and energy. She shimmied, sashayed and twirled her away around the stage like a total pro, and appeared to be having a great time. Best of all, she and Val — who click really well as a pair — brought some much-needed chemistry to the evening.

In other news, their performance wasn’t the only interesting part of the episode. During the rehearsal scenes, Val basically admitted that watching Janel train with Artem made him feel “uncomfortable” and how he doesn’t want to be celebrating with anyone else but her. “Is there an attraction between us too?” Val later acted coy about their relationship. “I don’t know,” he explained. “I think nature made things work that way. She is my partner. She is my friend. Now I want to see her do well.”
As for Janel’s response to Val’s moment of truth? “I mean, I missed you. It was more the distance for a week made me appreciate you a lot more,” the PLL beauty confessed. Later on she revealed that she actually missed him a lot and thinks he was jealous of the time she spent in the studio with Artem during the switch-up challenge. She also admitted that it was tricky to keep their personal “feelings” — “whatever they may be” — from interfering in their work.
Luckily, all the tension between them added fuel to their routine, and the judges definitely took note. Bruno Tonioli exclaimed with great gusto, “That is how you corner the market on hot Latinas!”Julianne Hough, who praised their difficult steps and competition-worthy choreography, added, “I want to commend you on how difficult that routine was.” They each gave them a score of 9.
Even Carrie Ann Inaba was impressed. “You are the real deal,” she told the pair before awarding them an 8. Unfortunately, guest judge Pitbull decided to be a hard-ass grader all of a sudden and gave them a 7, commenting on how they lacked “passion.” (Um, WHAT?!)
When “Dancing With the Stars” alum Leah Remini, who returned to the show to fill in for co-host Erin Andrews, asked Janel how she felt about Pitbull’s comments, she kept it real: “I always feel passionate when I am dancing with Val.” (WHOA! SPARKS ARE FLYING HERE, FOLKS!)
