*Warning – Photo Heavy Post* I Just wanted to throw that disclaimer out there because I had so many beautiful pictures from this event that I wanted to show as many as I could while being as selective as possible. It was a hard task. I was recently invited to a BAFTA Rad Carpet Master class. To say I was excited was an understatement.

I had a sneak peek into what fashion, beauty, and hair and jewellery trends to look out for at the British Academy Television Craft Awards which was held on the 27th April.  Held in the spectacular grand Victorian building that is Corinthia Hotel in central London it was a great experience.

After a walk around the superior room checking out the sponsors and getting some hints and tips it was time to take a front row seat and let the masterclass commence.

M.A.C was there and Rebecca Butterworth Senior Make-up artist gave us the lowdown on red carpet glamour and what the stars are asking for this year. She made it really clear that the art of make-up is about making YOU look like YOU, but an improved version. Don’t try and look like someone else! She also gave us a hint that Smokey eyes are out this season and simple eyes are in. Blended eyes, triple lashes and soft powder. It’s all about less is more. Pick a feature and enhance that rather than going for the whole hog. She did talk about MAC Strobe Cream which is the must have product for events, preparing for photos or just looking fresh. It gives the cheekbones a gorgeous glow without being too shiny and doesn’t make the light bounce off the face. It also lasts for the evening. The last tip she gave was to powder the heck out of the T Zone if you know you’re about to be papped and to keep you red carpet ready for the entire night. That’s’ one to jot down in the book.

Celebrity hair stylist Mark Hill explained all about red carpet looks and how to keep things simple but stylish. He was a lovely chirpy guy and was so enthusiastic. He spoke about the Oscars and how the vintage glamour trend is all over the place. That vintage soft glamour but all about individuality. Think Fearne Cottons style. Mark really understood that hair was a personal thing and EVERYONES hair is different but has the ability to make us feel amazing. His tip for red carpet glamour was to keep it vintage. 1920’s, Downton Abbey style.  Create a good foundation and prepare your hair. Look after it, condition it, protect it, replenish it and use the right products for your hair type. Like a house, it needs the right foundations to last! I did ask him about y knotty hair and he recommended Get Gorgeous! No Knots! Leave in detangling spray. I’ll be giving that a go.

House of Fraser Design Director Jakki Pay gave us a low down of the styles and trends that are hitting the red carpets this year and showed us the striking pieces that they have on offer. I have to say I was amazed by the beautiful dresses that were available for the celebrities but they were so affordable. I kid you not, some of these dressed were less than £300 and I was expecting them to add a couple more zeros on the end.  Little Mistress and Bibi were two of my favourites brands at the vent. The dresses were fashionable but amazing gorgeous. Exquisite detail and surprisingly affordable. Jakki gave us a whistle stop tour of red carpet looks. Everything from colours to fits. It was quite clear the structure wasn’t so apparent this year and there were lots more skimming of the frame and a little more shape. Some beautiful metallic and embellishments. I was swept away by the gorgeous pieces.

Carat London was there in full force with some stunning jewellery. Mo Mohsenin gave us a rundown of what jewellery to expect and his advice was to go for a statement piece. Make an item of jewellery the part of your outfit everyone talks about. The great thing about Carat is while it looks a million dollars, it doesn’t. There’s no need for the security to follow anyone to the toilet!

We were also lucky enough to have Amanda Berry BAFTA CEO and Actress Ophelia Lovibond give us a Question and Answer Session.  Always nice to get into the minds of the rich and famous.

I even had a chance to hold a BAFTA award myself. It was ridiculously heavy.  Another blogger referred it to a bowling ball and I have to agree. Just a very special one. It was a great event and the BAFTAS lived up to the glamorous expectations with some of the looks on the red carpet being identical to what the professions were talking about.

Here are the gorgeous finished looks after the experts had finished their Red Carpet Masterclass. Don’t they look stunning.
