The 1st  National Facial plastic surgery course is the first hands on cadaveric dissection course in the country where surgeons are being taught facial cosmetic and reconstructive surgery exclusively. Since there are no masters or training program for exclusive training in facial plastic surgery available in India at present, an initiative was taken by Dr Deepak V Haldipur, Senior Consultant in otolaryngology and Dr Vishwas K Vijayadev, Consultant facial plastic surgeon based in Bangalore to host this unique course in the city from Feb 28- Mar 2, 2013. Internationally acclaimed faculty Dr Ullas Raghavan from the United Kingdom is the chief instructional faculty for the course.
MS Ramaiah Advanced learning Center is the only facility in India designed to international standards, with provisions for fresh frozen cadaver dissection for a large number of participants.In the present course, 3 International faculties and 7 National level trainers are imparting specialized training to 30 selected candidates from India and neighboring countries to develop the speciality of facial plastic surgery in their respective states. An Academy of Facial Plastic and reconstructive surgery –Indian chapter is being inaugurated on 1st March to impart further training to desirable surgeons in this new subspeciality. The main agenda of this academy will be a continued professional development of the facial plastic surgeons in India through an Educational body.
The course is designed as an intense 3 day course using one fresh frozen cadaver per dissector. As Facial Plastic Surgery is an exciting new and evolving subspecialty of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, prior familiarization with the subject is desirable to gain maximum advantage while attending the course. Suitable reading references have been provided at the end of this page.

15 dissectors and 30 observers shall be chosen based on their Curriculum vitae and prior experience in this subspecialty for exclusive transfer of skills. 50 delegates can register on first come first served basis for attending the course as audience.
