The 9th Nutra India Summit - India’s flagship event for the Nutrition, Nutraceuticals, Functional Foods & Dietary Supplements Industry presented the 9th Nutra INDIA SUMMIT AWARDS today.
The awards were presented by Dr. Ajit Kumar, IAS, Vice Chancellor, National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management, (NIFTEM) and Dr. V. Prakash, FRSC, Distinguished Scientist of CSIR - India; Vice President, International Union of Nutritional Science (IUNS); Hon. Director of R&D and Innovation at JSS MVP, Mysore; Chairman, 9th Nutra India Summit.
An IAS officer turned into a scientist for rural development he has dedicated his life to develop villages and education Dr. Ajith Kumar said, "my thinking is about the country's food development. All private, government and other organizations have to join together to solve the problem of food in our country. All of us should sit together to solve this problem. People eat some capsules or tablets everyday because we are not able to provide rice and wheat to all after 10-15 years. So we should try new technology and new products."
"NIFTEM (National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management) has introduced B.Tech, M.Tech, Ph.D in food technology. NIFTEM is the only university in the world that provides degree in M.Tech, B.Tech in food technology. We have another plan for research in food industry. There is 4 year M.Tech and 2 year B.Tech course in village development, where the student and lecturers stay in the villages and know about the agricultural problems and think about food supplychain problems. He concluded saying “I strongly believe in using all of our knowledge in improvement and development of our country and work for our country.” he added.
The prestigious NUTRA Excellence (Institutions) awards was presented to Indian Dietetic Association (IDA) for its in-depth interaction with Academia & Industry and for its interfacing in the subject of Nutrition with application of Nutraceuticals and Nutritionals for a Healthy Society.
The NUTRA Industry Award was presented to Dr. Lekh Juneja - Executive Vice President, Taiyo Kagaku Co., Ltd., Japan for his outstanding contribution in promoting the sectors of Nutraceuticals, Functional & Specialty Foods and Dietary Supplements reaching out for a Healthy Society.
NUTRA Scientific Award was presented to Prof. Angel Gil - Institute of Nutrition and Food Technology, Granada, Spain and President, Iberomerican Nutrition Foundation For his outstanding scientific contribution in the sectors of Nutraceuticals, Nutritionals and basic work on Nutrition Connecting Research to Global Market place.
NUTRA Industry Recognition Award was presented to Naturex for its outstanding contribution to Industry growth in the sector of Nutraceuticals & Nutritionals and Dietary Supplements.
NUTRA Excellence Award (Personality) was presented to Dr. G. Thyagarajan - former Secretary COSTED and former Director, CSIR Laboratories for his lifetime and outstanding contribution in the area of Pharmaceuticals leading to Health and Wellness of Food & Food Safety connecting Research to Global Market place through his policy frameworks.
