As Lakmé Fashion Week (LFW), India’s leading fashion trade event enters in its fifteenth year, it’s proud to present yet another exciting Summer/Resort season. LFW today announced a robust line-up of 98 participating designers and 13 sponsors who have come together to celebrate the very best of fashion and creative talent.

Over the years, Lakmé Fashion Week has set new trends, promoted young talent and taken the lead on the digital front for the industry to follow. This season too will witness the industry’s most established names come together with young talent to set an unparalleled benchmark of diversity, creativity and energy.

Highlights of Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2014:

Grand Finale designer – Rajesh Pratap Singh Rajesh Pratap Singh’s collection, inspired by Lakmé Absolute Color Illusion, will be a magnificent interplay of light and color through make-up and outfits that represent his signature style of simplistic cuts and minimal but flawless detailing. The rich colors of the entire collection reflect a modern style that will take center-stage at the Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/ Resort 2014 Grand Finale.

Opening show by Manish Malhotra Bollywood’s fashion has come to enjoy a couture status because of Manish Malhotra’s magic over the past years. He has surpassed his contemporaries and emerged as the industry’s go-to-person for celebrities and fashion icons in India and around the world. His trend-setting creations have always been cherished by the fashion community and are the perfect way to begin another stellar season.

International designer UK-based accessory designer MAWI returns to her homeland after 12 years of establishing the infamous MAWI brand in London. Born in Manipur, MAWI returns to her Indian roots with a spectacular debut show at LFW sharing the ramp with Indian couturier Gaurav Gupta. The show presented by DHL is set to be one of the key highlights of the season and will celebrate MAWI’s remarkable debut on the Indian catwalk with Gaurav Gupta’s elegant designs, chronicling a retrospective journey through landmark MAWI pieces.

Jabong Stage One of the most exciting launches this season will be a new show space inside the Grand Hyatt hotel with an international look and feel that will be called the Jabong Stage in partnership with one of the fastest growing e- retailers in India, Jabong.com. Lakmé Fashion Week has partnered with Jabong.com to give the young and emerging designers an upgraded platform to showcase their fresh and edgy ideas and designs. With Jabong.com on board for four consecutive seasons, this new platform is all set to become the most sought after among the emerging talent.

Global faces on Indian ramp Lakmé Fashion Week is proud to present yet another internationally acclaimed face to the Mumbai ramp. Ninja Singh is a super model who has many accolades in her kitty including the Ford Supermodel of the World India 2011 tittle. Apart from MAWI and Ninja, LFW SR 2014 will also have Paris based designers namely – duo Traore Mossi & Wei Zhen and Parul Bhargava.

Industry stalwarts in attendance This season will see participation by some of India’s most celebrated designers namely Manish Malhotra, Rajesh Pratap Singh, Anita Dongre, Anju Modi, Tarun Tahiliani, Krishna Mehta, Neeta Lulla and Gaurav Gupta amongst others.

Debutants at LFW Twenty three designers will mark their debut at Lakmé Fashion Week this season. Names like Mandira Bedi, Karan Berry and Leon Vaz, Monica Shah and Karishma Swali, Urvashi Joneja, Veda Raheja, Sajid Dhar, Amy Grewal, Junelia Aguiar Chandler, Kunal Anil Tanna, Mrinalini Chandra, Preetika and Heeresh Zagjivan, Shubhika Davda, Lalit Sengar, Sidharth Sinha, Suman Nathwani, Anavila Sindhu Misra, Aratrik Dev Varman, along with the six Gen Next designers will add a new dimension to one of India’s most premier fashion and trade event.

Indian Textile Day In an endeavour to celebrate Indian textiles and crafts, Lakmé Fashion Week brings back Indian Textile Day. This dedicated feature will yet again pave way for the rich heritage of Indian fabrics through specially curated shows and associations that further strengthens this premise. Designers such as Anita Dogre, Krishna Mehta, Shruti Sancheti, Gaurang Shah, Swapnil Shinde among many others will pay tribute to Indian fashion through their creations.

A special show will be presented by Sangita Kathiwada’s Morarka Foundation which will see Anavila, Tilla and 11.11 come together for the first time.

INIFD presents GenNext INIFD will be the official knowledge partner for Lakmé Fashion Week for the tenth consecutive season and will present the popular GenNext show at LFW SR 2014. This synergy between education and fashion is an attempt to integrate knowledge sharing among the Indian fashion fraternity.

Speaking at the launch, Purnima Lamba – Head of Innovation at Lakmé said, “Each season of Lakmé Fashion Week, we collaborate with the finest fashion designers to bring alive the Lakmé beauty statement through an avant-garde presentation. This season we are infusing the magic of color and light into summer with the Lakmé Absolute Color Illusion range that spells mystery with each stroke of cool metallic shades. We look forward to a spellbinding finale with Rajesh Pratap Singh’s interpretation of Illusion in his unique textures.”
