Veteran journalists Chan, Feinswog to helm new online-only publication, expand daily coverage of the sport

SAN DIEGO (PRWEB) May 02, 2016

After 40 years in operations, Volleyball magazine, the sports leader in coverage and content, is going completely digital under new ownership, which plans to expand daily coverage of the sport, which is one of the most popular in America.

Under the direction of its new owners, veteran volleyball journalists Ed Chan and Lee Feinswog, the publication, currently online as VolleyballMag.com, will be the go-to source for volleyball in America. The change was announced in the final print edition of Volleyball magazine.

The new evolution of Volleyball will include daily coverage on all fronts, from NCAA men and women, NCAA beach, pro beach and, of course, USA indoors and beach Olympic teams. Volleyball will also have a new and exciting emphasis on club volleyball.

“Digital media has a responsibility to grow the game,” Chan said. “I see that volleyball is gaining visibility in the world at large, and am excited to help it grow. I look forward to building the Volleyball magazine audience and continuing to enjoy the benefits of this sport I have loved for nearly four decades.”

Chan runs VBshots.com, establishing himself as one of the top photographers of volleyball anywhere. Ed, also an avid beach player, has posted more than 100,000 beach and indoor volleyball photos on VBshots.com. It’s hard to find a major volleyball event in Southern California or either NCAA Championship and not see Ed working to get the best photos.

Feinswog, an award-winning sportswriter, TV host and author of three books, is the editor of DestinationVolleyball.com and a former features writer for Volleyball magazine. He is the director of the girls club Volleyball Baton Rouge, puts on the annual New Orleans Blastoff tournament, and is involved in all facets of the game.

DestinationVolleyball.com launched in August 2015 and quickly became extremely popular in the volleyball world for Feinswog’s writing and video chats with anyone and everyone in the sport.

“The idea of bringing DestinationVolleyball.com and VBshots.com into Volleyball magazine, with Ed’s fantastic photos and knowledge of the sport, and my writing and interviewing skills is really exciting,” Feinswog said. “Volleyball people will want to visit our site every day and we will make sure their efforts are worth it.”

Chan and Feinswog have also put together a team of award-winning sportswriters to cover and contribute, including the magazine’s former editor Mike Miazga.

“With the emphasis on digital instead of print, fans and players need a web provider to bring them into the sport,” Chan said. “Fans can deepen their involvement through a better understanding of the game. Players need to be educated on the opportunities that exist for them at the next level. Volleyball magazine will provide quality, though-provoking free content.”

“It is time the magazine moved in this direction,” said Susan Fitzgerald, COO of Madavor Media, former owner of Volleyball magazine. “Both Ed and Lee will be excellent stewards of this beloved brand.”

The publication will update readers about Volleyball magazine’s transition on its website, http://www.VolleyballMag.com. Also follow on Twitter @VBmagazine and @DestinationVB for daily information and links.
