Dan Merkle to Build Public Safety Division as Veritone Expands into Government

Newport Beach, CA (PRWEB) September 15, 2016

Veritone, Inc., the leading cloud-based Artificial Intelligence (“AI”) media technology company pioneering the world’s first Cognitive Media Platform™ (CMP), announced today the appointment of Dan Merkle as President of Veritone Public Safety. As Veritone continues its expansion into new vertical markets, Merkle will be responsible for building the new Veritone Public Safety division through the implementation of competitive strategies, partner relations and community outreach to deliver government agencies the unmatched intelligence and illusive insights needed to respond to and prevent crime, and improve public safety.

“There is great potential for AI to transform public safety as we know it, as our CMP captures and analyzes the world’s data at unprecedented speeds, allowing for discovery in every area, and ultimately putting time on the side of law enforcement by quickly pulling intelligence in real time via body cams and dashboard cams,” stated Chad Steelberg, CEO of Veritone.

“As part of Veritone’s platform expansion beyond Veritone Media and Veritone Politics, we are entering into key vertical markets such as Public Safety for Veritone Enterprise, and will continue to bring on subject matter experts like Dan, with deep industry experience, to lead these focused vertical divisions,” said John Newsom, Executive Vice President of Veritone Enterprise. “We are pleased to have Dan Merkle on board, as he has the political savvy to navigate law enforcement and has the network to raise this area to the next level,” added Newsom.

A senior executive with more than 15 years in the law enforcement industry, Merkle has extensive experience excelling at building enterprise value through alliances and strategic partnerships with state and federal law enforcement agencies and public safety officials. Before joining Veritone, Merkle served as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at Lexipol, the country’s leading provider of state specific policies and integrated training, where he worked with federal agencies, local law enforcement agencies and public safety insurers to identify and mitigate emerging risks. His devoted career in law enforcement includes years of experience at all types of companies, from startups to international organizations including Ascolta Training and REI (Recreational Equipment Inc.), a billion-dollar outdoor sporting goods retailer.

Merkle and the executive team of Veritone Law Enforcement will be attending the IACP Annual Conference and Exposition, the largest gathering of law enforcement leaders in the world and providers of tactical equipment and technology solutions available for law enforcement, taking place October 15 -18th in San Diego, California.

Merkle has served on advisory boards for the US Department of Energy, State of Oregon, City of Portland, City of San Juan Capistrano, Dean’s Advisory Board for the Argyros School of Business and Economics at Chapman University, and as Chairman of the Forum for Corporate Directors. He holds a bachelor degree in Chemistry from Chapman University and an Executive Certificate from Harvard University.
