Voalte Smartphones Replace Cisco Phones and Vocera Voice Badges

Sarasota, Fla. (PRWEB) April 12, 2016

Voalte, the leader in healthcare communication technology, today announced The University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City, a world-class academic medical center, selected Voalte smartphones to replace legacy Cisco phones and Vocera voice badges for clinical communication. The multiphase project involves rolling out Voalte solutions on 1,355 Apple® iPhone 6S smartphones across 50 units with a total of 623 patient beds. More than 3,500 staff and resident physicians will communicate and receive Phillips physiological monitor and Hill-Rom nurse call alerts via their Voalte smartphones. Approximately 500 physicians and others working outside the hospital will connect to the care team using secure texting via Voalte Me™ on their personal smartphones.

The enterprise-wide expansion of Voalte Platform comes after a successful pilot on the hospital’s Neuroscience/ENT Progressive Care Unit.

“During the initial deployment, the Voalte system was part of a significant improvement in our patient call response times, which in turn increases patient satisfaction,” said Drew Rush, Project Manager at The University of Kansas Hospital. “Our results show patient call response time improves by 24 seconds when using Voalte solutions.”

Voalte connects the entire care team with a unified directory that clearly indicates roles, and shows at a glance who is available or busy. Nurses and other caregivers send secure text messages, manage physiological alerts sent by devices at the patient’s bedside, and make voice calls, all on the Voalte smartphone. Physicians communicate efficiently with the care team while ensuring HIPAA compliance and keeping protected health information private.

“Voalte protects private information via a secure server,” said Linda Nagel, the hospital’s Operations Capital Projects Manager. “The clinician can be specific via text message, and the person receiving the message can see the patient’s needs immediately and respond as necessary.”

“The University of Kansas Hospital and other medical centers seeking a comprehensive communication platform recognize that Voalte is the only vendor to successfully scale smartphones across the entire enterprise,” said Trey Lauderdale, Voalte Founder and CEO. “We’re looking forward to helping the hospital’s caregivers continue to deliver a remarkable patient experience, while integrating secure communication with their nurse call and physiological monitor alerts.”
