Global education innovation festival in NYC, December 19-21.

New York, NY. (PRWEB) October 17, 2016

StartEd Companies, Inc, a public-benefit corporation, and the NYU Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development today announced they will host NY Edtech Week — a global education innovation festival in New York City celebrating education entrepreneurship. The event will take place December 19-21, 2016 centered at NYU’s Greenwich Village campus with activities taking place around the city.

NY Edtech Week is a global meeting point for the education innovation industry focusing on how entrepreneurship and edtech drive advancements in education and learning. New York City is an ideal location because the city and its neighbors are home to the most significant learning infrastructure in the world. NY Edtech Week will offer the best of New York City — connections, customers, capital, and culture — in this must-attend event for the edtech and education communities.

The conference attracts, develops, and supports education entrepreneurs and edtech investors — and consequently supports advancements in learning outcomes. The 2016 NY Edtech Week innovation festival will expand on past successful events that have brought together hundreds of technology innovators, early-stage investors, entrepreneurs, policymakers, media representatives, researchers, and teachers to foster new partnerships and exchange best practices.

“New York is the national center of education innovation with the largest K12 district, a major community college network, private colleges, education publishers, education investors, media outlets, investors, innovators and cultural institutions,” said Jonathan D. Harber of StartEd. “This makes the city and NYU the perfect place to bring those people and organizations together to work to improve the opportunities and outcomes in the global education community — that’s what NY Edtech Week is all about.”

NY Edtech Week is also the culminating event for the NYU Steinhardt Edtech Accelerator powered by StartEd, an intensive three-month, mentor-led bootcamp program dedicated to education entrepreneurship and designed to help edtech entrepreneurs grow their companies. At the conference, participating startups from NYU will be joined by other startups from around the world to present in front of a network of angel and venture capital education investors.

Distinguished participants of past NYU edtech events have included Carmen Fariña, Chancellor of the New York City Department of Education, Karl McDonnell, CEO of Strayer Education, Susan Fuhrman, President of Teachers College, Columbia University, David Levin, CEO of McGraw-Hill Education, John Katzman, CEO and Founder of Noodle as well as representatives from Pearson, Rethink Education, HotChalk, Union Square Ventures, and many more.

The 2016 program includes:

●    “TED” style presentations from luminaries in the education field

●    “Shark Tank” style pitches from startups representing the most exciting innovations today

●    Panel discussions in early learning, K-12, higher ed, and corporate learning

●    Musical performance

●    Networking receptions and other opportunities for 1-on-1 interaction between attendees

●    Presentations by participants in the NYU Steinhardt Edtech Accelerator

●    “Open Lab” visits to iconic New York education and cultural institutions

"We're excited to host NY Edtech Week to bring together technology and education thought leaders all working to create new possibilities for how students learn. The Steinhardt School is committed to creating a community of innovation in education here in New York City," said Dominic Brewer, the Gale and Ira Drukier Dean of NYU Steinhardt.

NY Edtech Week is sponsored and presented in collaboration with McGraw-Hill and other sponsors. For more information on NY Edtech Week, or to participate, please visit: http://www.nyedtechweek.com.
