St. Landry and Evangeline Parish residents are eligible for scholarships.

Opelousas, LA (PRWEB) February 12, 2016

The law firm of Morrow, Morrow, Ryan & Bassett is offering scholarships to individuals of St. Landry and Evangeline Parishes. The purpose of these scholarships is to encourage applicants to pursue a degree in their field of study and upon graduation to encourage those individuals to seek employment within these two parishes.

“We have available jobs in St. Landry and Evangeline Parishes that can be filled by individuals right here at home, they just need an opportunity and that is what we are trying to provide for them," said Pat Morrow, Senior Partner at MMRB. “Our goal is to continue to provide these scholarships for many years to come. 2016 marks our third year to provide scholarships to support these two parishes," he added.

Scholarships will be awarded based on academic background (must have a 2.5 cumulative GPA), maturity of the applicant, financial need, community involvement, the availability of resources, funding and the applicants’ chosen career field. Applicants must be permanent residents of St. Landry or Evangeline Parish.

Six (6) scholarships for $2,500 each will be awarded. These six scholarships will be awarded as a one-time award for the 2016-17 school year. Scholarship amounts and guidelines will be set by the MMRB Scholarship Committee and may be adjusted on an annual basis. Scholarship funds will be paid directly to the educational institution the applicant is attending. Applicants must be attending an educational institution/college in the state of Louisiana and can apply during any portion of their educational career (i.e., undergraduate, graduate, professional school, etc.) Applicants can also be current TOPS recipients.
