Bonnier Corp., the publisher of Popular Science magazine and BT Software, the creators of the Kaliki Audio Newsstand are announcing today the upcoming availability of the Popular Science Audio Edition application during the 2015 Geneva International Motor Show. The MirrorLink®-enabled Popular Science Audio Edition will allow drivers to listen to articles and stories from Popular Science magazine and Popsci.com directly in their vehicles.

“The Kaliki platform will allow us to remake our award-winning magazine stories into engaging audio content piped directly into your car," says Cliff Ransom, Editor in Chief of Popular Science. Ransom continues, “With the Popular Science Audio Edition, we can reach our readers in a way that's never been possible for us.”

“We are very excited to work with Cliff and the rest of the Popular Science team for the MirrorLink-enabled Popular Science Audio Edition application”, says Bruce Hopkins, the Vice President of Business Development at BT Software / Kaliki. Hopkins continues, “MirrorLink gives us a wide range of compatibility with mobile devices and vehicles that are currently available today, which is very strategic to our joint success”. Later in 2015, the Popular Science Audio Edition app will be enabled with the OnSay audio search engine to allow drivers to search for Popular Science articles directly with their voice.

“The Popular Science Audio Edition is an ideal showcase for the power of MirrorLink on today’s connected-driving landscape,” said Alan Ewing, President and Executive Director of the CCC. “Consumers have shown exceptionally high demand for in-vehicle app use and are actively searching for methods to do so in a manner that is both responsible and enjoyable. The MirrorLink-enabled version of Popular Science Magazine experience is a fine example of how to achieve this goal.”

MirrorLink is the most ingenious way to bring smartphone content to the dashboard. Huge icons make apps easy to use and smart technology knows if the car is moving or stationary. MirrorLink is the leading industry standard for car-smartphone connectivity and is designed for maximum interoperability between a wide range of smartphones and cars. It’s also the only OS- and OEM-agnostic standard for car-smartphone connectivity and the only vendor-neutral standard where no single entity has a controlling stake. MirrorLink thus offers the quickest global route to more responsible and enjoyable connected driving.
