While serving as a solo ophthalmic practitioner in Huntington, Dr. Richter has won the Patients’ Choice Award five times and the Compassionate Doctor Award five times. “Our dedication to personal patient care has always been at the core of our service commitment to patients,” said Dr. Richter, adding that it runs parallel to the overall patient approach taken at North Shore Eye Care, a division of SightMD.
With the addition of Dr. Richter’s practice, North Shore Eye Care, a division of SightMD now offers patients convenient access to practices in Smithtown, Garden City, Riverhead, Holbrook, Deer Park, Southampton, Southold, Queens, Hempstead and Huntington. “Our focus at North Shore Eye Care has always been to provide men and women of all ages – including infants and children – the same level of superior eye care found in major medical centers around the world right here on Long Island. Dr. Richter specializes in cataract removal and lens implantation. Prior to joining North Shore Eye Care, a division of SightMD Dr. Richter was practicing in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Patchogue, and Huntington. “Having practiced in New York for nearly 20 years, I am quite familiar with the exceptional quality of ophthalmic care and surgical expertise of North Shore Eye Care,” said Dr. Richter. “It is truly an honor to join a team of eye care professionals who are dedicated not only to the pursuit of the latest breakthroughs in ophthalmology, but also the highest levels of personal patient care.”
After graduating from Cornell University with a B.A. in Biology, Dr. Richter received his Medical Degree from New York University School of Medicine. He completed his postdoctoral training at The New York Eye & Ear Infirmary and finished his Internship at Saint Vincent’s Hospital in New York. His hospital affiliations include Huntington Hospital, Syosset and an ambulatory surgery center affiliation with the Long Island Eye Surgical Center.
Early in his medical career, Dr. Richter was active in ophthalmic research. He investigated the use of 3-dimensional ultrasound of intraocular foreign bodies and helped draft protocols at New York Eye & Ear Infirmary for picosecond laser iridectomy, trabecular ablation and posterior capsulotomy in humans. His early research also included designing computer simulation for Apple Computer publication Syllabuus on the effect of ADII on water balance, which replaced several medical school lectures.
