Information Security Leaders Recognized for Volunteer Commitment to the Organization

Clearwater, FL (PRWEB) November 05, 2015

(ISC)²® (“ISC-squared”) today announced two recipients of its 2015 President’s Awards – (ISC)² North American Advisory Council Co-Chair and Former (ISC)² New Jersey Chapter President Gurdeep Kaur, CISSP, and (ISC)² Job Task Analysis Contributor and Exam Item Writer Eric Hibbard, CISSP-ISSAP, ISSEP, ISSMP, CCSP.

The (ISC)² President’s Award recognizes volunteers who have made a significant impact on/and or contribution to (ISC)² and the security industry through their dedicated volunteer efforts throughout the past year. Multiple recipients are chosen annually or bi-annually at the sole discretion of (ISC)²’s CEO.

Gurdeep Kaur is recognized for serving as the founder and former president of the (ISC)² New Jersey Chapter. She recently stepped down to allow other members leadership opportunities and to enable her to focus on other opportunities. She worked with high school students to establish a “junior chapter,” providing these young individuals with opportunities to make a difference in the senior community by educating the elderly to be safe online. She has also served on the (ISC)² North America

Advisory Council since 2013, and was appointed as the co-chair in 2015 for her leadership and commitment to the organization.

“I would like to offer sincere thanks to (ISC)² for providing me with the platform to work on the information security awareness initiatives for the benefit of the broader community,” says Kaur. “I owe it to my family and the officers and members of the New Jersey Chapter. It is extremely important for us to continue work towards a common goal of making information security an inclusive and attractive choice of career and service for the budding generations.”

Eric Hibbard has been a key contributor to our Job Task Analysis ( JTAs) and workshops as an item writer and an expert in ISO security standards. He provided (ISC)² with leadership at Information Systems Security Engineering Professional (CISSP-ISSEP®) and Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSPSM) program development workshops, both during JTAs, and as an active volunteer item writer in many workshops by explaining the strategy and direction in international standards development.

“I’m truly humbled by this news and surprised that I would be considered for such recognition," says Hibbard. “(ISC)² is one of the organizations that I’m most proud to be a member of, and I’m happy to support them in whatever small way I can.”

(ISC)² CEO David Shearer says, “It’s important to recognize how the very nature of volunteerism has shaped and continues to enhance (ISC)². These outstanding volunteers have made sustained contributions to the organization over the years. I’m eternally grateful to Gurdeep, Eric and all of our dedicated volunteers around the world who are directly influencing cyber, information, software and infrastructure security.”

Gurdeep received the President’s Award at the 2015 (ISC)² Americas Information Security Leadership Awards event at The National City Grove of Anaheim in Anaheim, Ca. on September 30, 2015. Eric was unable to attend, but was recognized at the event. For more information on the (ISC)2 President’s Award, please visit https://www.isc2.org/presidents-award.aspx.
