Ferrer, a former police officer, circuit court judge and nationally syndicated television personality, will bring his passion for protecting the rights of the seriously injured to one of the nation’s largest personal injury and consumer protection law firms.
Tampa, Florida (PRWEB) March 02, 2015
Morgan & Morgan is proud to welcome former police officer, circuit court judge and nationally syndicated television personality Alex Ferrer to the firm. Though his esteemed career in the legal field as a trial attorney, circuit court judge and national legal commentator speaks for itself, Ferrer is perhaps most widely known for his time spent on “Judge Alex,” his nationally syndicated TV show that ran for nine years in households across the country.
According to Ferrer, Morgan & Morgan’s reputation for taking on large corporations played a major role in his decision to join the firm.
“I’ve always been interested in representing people who were truly victimized and injured by large, powerful corporations,” Ferrer said. “There are companies out there that will knowingly injure people just to make a buck. A large corporation with the financial ability to beat down a victim is an unfair fight. That’s a real David and Goliath battle that I’ve always felt passionate about. I hope that with Morgan & Morgan I can help take on the Goliaths of the world, whether it be in the areas of business relations, personal injury or mass torts.”
John Morgan, who founded Morgan & Morgan in 1988, expanded on what Ferrer’s role will be with the firm while expressing his happiness with having not one but two of the most revered former judges in Florida with his firm.
“We are excited that Judge Alex Ferrer has joined our firm. Judge Ferrer is one of the most respected jurists in Florida and enjoys a national reputation as a result of his television show and frequent legal commentary for FOX News, CNN and other national networks,” Morgan said. “He will be involved in all of our practice areas, including our business trial group, which only handles cases on a contingent basis. He joins Judge Belvin Perry, who joined the firm last year after 18 years as chief judge in Orange County.”
At the age of 19, Ferrer became one of the youngest police officers in the State of Florida. During his time in law enforcement, he received his Bachelor’s of Professional Studies from Barry University and later his Juris Doctor from the University of Miami School of Law. In 1995, at the age of 34, he became the youngest Circuit Court Judge in Miami’s 11th Judicial Circuit.
In 1999, Ferrer was unanimously recommended for an open position on Florida’s Third District Court of Appeal; however, he withdrew his name from consideration to pursue his career in daytime television on “Judge Alex.” During this time, he was named most trustworthy daytime television host—beating out other high-profile television staples such as Oprah, Regis Philbin, and Ellen DeGeneres—as well as the second-most trustworthy of all celebrities, including newscasters and even the President.
It’s Ferrer’s reputation for calling it like it is, as well as his knack for identifying with those who are truly in need of help, that cemented the former judge’s move to Morgan & Morgan.
“I’m a straight-shooter. I do things by the book and I believe in doing what’s right. I think the people who know me, who were in my audience, the fans, they know that’s my character,” Ferrer said. “I like that John Morgan shares a similar reputation for being straightforward and on the right side of things. I’m really excited about joining a firm for which I have so much respect. I know many law firms and there are very few that have a family atmosphere and a feel of camaraderie like they do at Morgan & Morgan. I think that speaks volumes about John and his approach to the practice of law. That’s one of the things I really love about the firm.”
