Female Russian Filmmaker Launches IndieGoGo Campaign to Fund Thesis Film

Talented team raises money to make this incredible film a reality
LOS ANGELES, California – March 25, 2016 – Female Russian filmmaker at Columbia University launched an IndieGoGo campaign to fund her thesis film – Mother’s Day. The story surrounds one mother, Mags, and her desperate attempt to reunite with her estranged son under circumstances she would never have imagined. The film revolves around the fearless and passionate subculture of sand racing. The team raised enough money to complete the film, but they need more seed capital to shoot the movie in the Salton Sea, the dream location and epicenter for sand racing. Thegoal is to raise $12,000. Funds received will cover food, lodging, transportation, and security.
The film connects two great American film schools – Columbia University (director & writers) and USC (producing team). Mother’s Day brings together two opposing worlds – the world of parenting and the hard world of sand racing as one mother finds herself plunged into this dangerous yet exhilarating sport. The subculture of sand racing consists of thrilling off-road races. People take pride in building and upgrading their vehicles as they show them off at organized rallies in deserted areas all over the world. This sport was briefly covered in George Miller’s film Mad Max, which was heavily reimagined.
