Okotoks, Alberta (PRWEB) March 01, 2016

Rick Milliken always enjoyed helping people in business – whether that meant helping fellow managers improve or advising technicians on how to run a business. So when he decided it was time to come out of retirement, he knew becoming a business coach would be a perfect combination of his passion and his experience. Now Milliken is proud to announce that he’s just launched The Growth Coach Foothills.

The Growth Coach is the largest provider of affordable group coaching workshops in the nation, but coaches also offer one-to-one coaching services, remote coaching delivered via phone and web, and coaching for special projects as well as alternative financing, business valuation services, sales mapping and more. Clients include the owners of small- and medium-sized businesses, management teams, sales teams and self-employed professionals among others.

The Growth Coach Foothills works with business owners and professionals in Calgary, Okotoks, Cochrane, Canmore, Banff, High River, Claresholm, Fort MacLeod, the Municipal District of Foothills, Rocky View County, Vulcan County and Lethbridge County.

Prior to opening The Growth Coach, Milliken was a senior operations executive for more than 25 years. His diverse experience includes management and leadership roles including project management, operations, logistics and procurement in the oil and gas and construction industries. He also worked in international management in Russia, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan. In those roles, he was often recognized for management of complex projects, leadership of multi-discipline and multi-cultural teams.

Milliken took early retirement from the corporate world at the end of 2008.

"Through 2014 I did all of the early retirement things – golfing, catching up on reading and getting to know my family again. Along the way I renovated a number of residential properties, relocated back to Canada and designed, had built and landscaped a new home. I also spent some time helping out colleagues, researching new ventures and did due-diligence on a number of business opportunities,” he said.

“When I decided that it was time to go back to work again, I knew going back to the corporate world was not what I wanted to do. I examined the areas of my prior working life I enjoyed most and kept coming back to coaching other managers and owners and helping them work through issues that were outside of their skill sets. I've been privileged to work with some extraordinarily talented technical people – the kind of folks who can build anything, fix anything and operate anything – but often their skills didn't extend into areas such as planning, budgeting and personnel issues. Those were areas that I could provide help and guidance. Those experiences lead me to the notion of coaching and, ultimately, The Growth Coach,” Milliken added.

In addition to his experience in corporate leadership, Milliken understands the trials and challenges of being a small business owner. He’s been there – and he’s often wondered how having a coach could have helped him be successful.

“I had a brief – and costly – experience owning and operating my own business. The failure of that business was a terrific learning experience, but I’ve thought many times since that, if I had had access to an experienced advisor at the time, perhaps things would have turned out differently. I want to be that experienced advisor for business owners and company leaders in this community,” he added. “If I can be that lifeline for people, then I’ve succeeded.”

As a Growth Coach, Milliken is also certified in The Strategic Mindset coaching process, which adheres to the standards, practices and policies that the International Coaching Federation has set forth in their Code of Professional Standards and Ethics.

The Growth Coach, founded in Cincinnati, Ohio, sold its first franchise in 2003, but its leaders have a successful 20-year track record of helping business leaders find success and balance. Today the business and sales coaching franchise is in more than 100 markets worldwide.
