Dizzion, Inc., a full-service End User Computing (EUC) provider, is pleased to announce the release of zLink, a robust, low-cost endpoint solution that will permanently redefine the means by which companies access the virtual desktop. The zLink device provides a direct, secure connection to Dizzion’s Cloud Desktop service and dramatically reduces the capital investment and management overhead associated with traditional desktop and laptop devices.
Analyst research predicts that the Desktop-as-a-Service (DaaS) market, also referred to as hosted virtual desktops (VDI) or Cloud Delivered Desktops, is set to grow at a pace of 30-40% in the next three years, fueled by a need for data security and workplace flexibility initiatives. As more desktops are sourced to the Cloud, traditional compute devices like laptops and desktops place an increasingly unnecessary drain on capital and support resources.
Recognizing this need for an affordable, lightweight virtual desktop access device, Dizzion created zLink as a way to help its customers improve their productivity and reduce their technology and support costs. As a single-purpose device, zLink is preconfigured to have end users fully productive on a Dizzion virtual desktop in less than 5 minutes – without IT support and without a PC. All that is required is to plug a zLink into a monitor and other peripherals, turn on the power and log in to the end user’s allocated Windows virtual desktop.
Simple to ship and even easier to install, zLink is available in two models: zLink and zLink Plus. Both include a Quad Core processor and 2GB of RAM, and neither contains movable or breakable parts. zLink is smaller than a smart phone and offers a fully managed and controlled operating system (OS) and virtual desktop access on a single screen. zLink Plus includes all the features of zLink and adds multi-monitor and two-way voice capabilities in a slightly larger form factor.
zLink will support large-scale mid-market and enterprise deployments of Dizzion’s End User Computing Desktop solution. These include Business Process Outsourcers (BPOs), Customer Care companies, Healthcare organizations, and other businesses that require secure, high-performance virtual desktops via a secure, low-maintenance endpoint.
“Our customers love the benefits of security, productivity and mobility that they realize from using Dizzion’s virtual desktops,” said Robert Green, Dizzion CTO. “However, they’ve told us that managing their aging desktops and laptops is an ongoing source of frustration and cost. zLink eliminates that burden by providing a transformative ’Plug and Play’ delivery of Dizzion Cloud Services. When combined with the power of our virtual desktop service, zLink lowers the cost of hardware, supports flexible location work and reduces the threat of data security on the endpoint device.”
Dizzion Cloud desktops are protected by over 100 controls and multiple layers of security. zLink further limits the possibility of a data breach by giving the IT department full control to lock down, manage and monitor the endpoint device. With this capability, customers can safely extend the Dizzion EUC services to remote users and third-party contractors. zLink is especially beneficial for Work@Home and productivity initiatives and for supporting the trend towards increased location and device flexibility demanded by Millennial workers.
The low, monthly cost of the zLink devices is added to a customer’s existing subscription. In addition to cost savings on the devices themselves, zLink will help businesses save on energy costs. zLink and zLink Plus consume 70% less power than a standard laptop and 98% less than a traditional desktop.
