Michael Griesbach, author of the American Bar Association’s “The Innocent Killer” and prosecuting attorney in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, is giving radio and television interviews to better inform the public about the inner workings of the criminal justice system.

Michael Griesbach, a Wisconsin prosecutor who wrote “The Innocent Killer,” chronicling the cases against Steven Avery now featured in the Netflix series “Making a Murderer,” is available to discuss the Avery saga, wrongful convictions and exonerations.

Griesbach’s highly-acclaimed book on Avery, who spent 18 years behind bars for a brutal rape he didn't commit before he was exonerated through DNA testing, was published in 2014 by the American Bar Association in its first foray into the true-crime genre. "The Innocent Killer" begins with a brutal assault on a remote stretch of beach on the Lake Michigan shoreline of Wisconsin, and ends two decades later in the most tragic of circumstances. Avery, who was poised to reap millions from his $36 million wrongful conviction lawsuit against the county, its former sheriff and former district attorney, is arrested and convicted for the brutal murder of a freelance photographer two years after securing his freedom.

The 10-part Netflix series on Avery has generated rave reviews, and widespread media attention. Griesbach was interviewed as part of the decade-long project by Laura Ricciardi and Moira Demos, and shared his research with the creators of the series. He concludes that Avery was fairly convicted for the murder of photographer Teresa Halbach. In November, Griesbach participated in a panel discussion on exoneration at a fall institute of the ABA Criminal Justice Section.
