Washington, DC (PRWEB) March 03, 2016

AARP is pleased to announce the speaker sessions for its fifth Health Innovation@50+ LivePitch event which will be held Wednesday, April 27 at Plug and Play Tech Center in Sunnyvale, CA. Executives from AARP, Caring.com, Honor and Walmart, among other organizations, will be speaking on topics such as the Caregiver as the COO and Venture Capital and Caregiving at this unique one day dual-pitch event. Application deadline has been extended to Sunday, March 6 at 11:59pm CST for startup companies interested in being considered for one of the ten spots for the pitch competition. Registration is open at limited early bird pricing of $199.00 for the full day of content. For more information and guidelines please visit http://health50.org/.

“This unique caregiving tech event brings to life the trends and opportunities identified in our recently issued Caregiving Innovation Frontiers (CIF) study,” said Jody Holtzman, senior vice president, Enterprise Strategy and Innovation, AARP. “The findings were, honestly, astounding and we knew our Innovation@50+ event had to focus on the growing needs of caregivers, the people they care for and the business opportunity this market presents for entrepreneurs. The companies and speakers who are part of our event will help seniors and their caregivers in immeasurable ways.”

According to AARP data, the caregiving market is expected to reach $72 billion by 2020, with $62 billion of that coming from caregiver's out of pocket spending. Right now, 40 million Americans are providing unpaid care of aging, disabled, or other people in need of assistance. By 2020, 117 million Americans will need assistance of some kind, yet the overall number of caregivers is only expected to reach 45 million. More is here: http://www.aarp.org/cif

Representing 38 million members, the power of AARP takes this pitch event up a notch. Only Innovation@50+ creates a dual-pitch event that also provides an audience of actual intended end user consumers who listen to the pitches and share feedback in real time, providing the companies absolutely invaluable market data on the spot.

Previous AARP Health Innovation@50+ LivePitch events have been held in Boston, Las Vegas and New Orleans, with last year’s event in Miami showcasing technology innovation across Florida. Finalists from the previous four events have raised over $80 million in investments and four companies have been acquired. Holding the 2016 event in Silicon Valley, such a hub for technology innovation, is a strong opportunity to attract and feature 10 amazing companies.

Applications to compete for one of the ten finalist slots are also open until the extended date of Sunday, March 6 at 11:59pm CST.
