Hey all,

Just wanted to share my floppy MOD with you all. I finally got the bucks together for a SSD but since I have a clear acrylic case I didnt want to have another drive spoiling my clean look and that got me wondering if it could fit inside the floppy drive case.

First thing to do was remove the floppy drive and gut it. I was surprised it had such a complex mechanism.

Flat motor out of the drive reminds me of a radial engine old planes used, looks very cool I think.

Upon opening the case I discovered the drive had an inner tray which I needed to keep as it connect both halves of the case, this meant less room for my SSD, would it still fit? I flattened various bits of metal sticking up out of the tray and then cut the back of it so I could plug in the SSD. Time for a test fit.

Now to install the "floppy drive" back in the case.

Fits like a glove and you cant see the SSD, Im stoked.

I now have the fastest "floppy drive" in the world lol.
