Short Summary
The Italian Consortium for Biogas (CIB) is holding its premiere Biogas Italy event this week in Rimini, Italy. The event promoting the sustainable benefits of biogas is engaging institutional stakeholders and experts from different fields, such as agriculture, industrial enterprise and transport. This unique opportunity allows CNH Industrial a captive forum to illustrate its progress in the field of natural gas propulsion where it is the European leader for commercial vehicles and engines. It also gives the company a platform to discuss its technological advances in agricultural machinery.

From providing tangibly sustainable transport solutions to investing in an ecological approach to the future of farming, CNH Industrial will present key elements from its efforts in the fields of natural gas and precision farming at Biogas Italy. The event held in Rimini, Italy is organised by the Italian Consortium for Biogas (CIB). It is the first of its kind to take place in Italy, the world’s third largest producer of biogas. The event involves members from the biogas industry, representatives from the corresponding sectors of research and development as well as institutional stakeholders.
Biogas Italy follows “Biomethane Day”, a meeting held in Verona in December 2014, which was organised by CNH Industrial, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, CIB, Assogasmetano (the association representing the Italian natural gas distribution network) and NGV Italy (the consortium representing Italy’s natural gas transport industry). That event gathered more than 100 institutional stakeholders to discuss the potential of biomethane in terms of reducing CO2 emissions.
At Biogas Italy, CNH Industrial will participate at various activities throughout the two-day event to provide its insight on the uses of biogas and sustainable technologies in the capital goods sector. Institutional Relations for the EMEA (Europe, the Middle East and Africa) region will illustrate the company’s commitment to advancing the field of biomethane, whose importance it diligently works to support and promote, especially at EU level.
Biomethane has a highly strategic value for both the transport sector and European environmental policies. It has the potential to help enforce the Directive 2009/28/EC on Renewable Energy, which requires that by 2020 European states achieve at least a 10% share of total energy consumption from renewable sources in the transport sector.
CNH Industrial is the European leader in natural gas engines and natural gas commercial vehicles. For over 25 years, CNH Industrial’s powertrain brand FPT Industrial has been a global frontrunner in the development and production of natural gas engines for on and off-road vehicles as well as for marine and power generation applications. The Iveco brand offers a full range of natural gas vehicles from light duty vans to medium and heavy duty trucks for every type of mission. The Iveco Bus brand offers natural gas urban buses in a series of different dimensions, counting public tender and private
customers.
Together Iveco and Iveco Bus have sold upwards of 10,000 natural gas vehicles to date, including over 200 liquefied natural gas (LNG) vehicles, considered to be one of the cleanest fuels on the market. Moving off the road and into the field, CNH Industrial is also at the forefront of environmentally friendly agricultural machinery. Representatives from CNH Industrial’s Precision Solutions and Telematics unit will address the changing trends in agriculture, with a specific focus on precision farming, widely recognised as the most efficient driver toward sustainable agriculture.
The latest phase of evolution in this field is the use of telematics to link equipment, land and people – transforming a single machine into a complete agricultural ecosystem. CNH Industrial will demonstrate the different functionalities of its telematics system: fleet management, balanced distribution of crop protection products, yield and heat mapping, traffic control and water management. CNH Industrial’s telematics system technologies are used by its agricultural machinery brands Case IH – AFS connect (Advanced Farming Systems) – and New Holland Agriculture – PLM connect (Precision Land Management). This system is designed to create an open and secure point of access for the user-directed data exchange between machines in the field and numerous agricultural industry players that interact with customers.
