Bond Residential Director, Steve Wiggins, is pleased to announce that his Chelmsford based estate agent business has bucked the industry trend for the month of August.

“Our sales numbers this month are 70% up on July 2015 and are the highest for August since 2011. In terms of lettings, we have agreed more new lets this month than any month since we opened our lettings department in 2013,” comments Mr Wiggins.

The area surrounding Chelmsford Essex is suffering from an acute shortage of properties coming onto the market while demand is still extremely strong across all price ranges.  However, the greatest demand is currently for older style two and three bedroom houses in the city centre and two, three and four bedroom houses suburbs in price ranges of £250,000 to £400,000. This is thanks to a strong local economy and the fact that many people working in the City of London find Chelmsford a perfect blend of lifestyle, affordability and commute time.

A survey carried out by the Halifax deemed Chelmsford to be one of the top 10 places to live in the UK. They were placed 10th out of 405 local authority areas in the UK. According to the survey, homes in the Chelmsford district are larger than the national average, with 5.7 habitable rooms compared to the 5.5 nationally while 97.8 per cent of dwellings having central heating and a bathroom.

Steve Wiggins goes on to say, “In terms of lettings we are experiencing really high demand for 2 and 3 bedroom house and apartments located within walking distance of the city centre and 3-4 bedroom family homes located in the suburbs. We are currently achieving an average £1100 per calendar month for most three bedroom terraced houses.”
