Sprint freemium MVNO FreedomPop has added the Samsung Galaxy SII, also known as the Samsung Epic Touch, to its FreedomPhone device portfolio. The refurbished SII is available now on the FreedomPop site for $159 plus $6.99 shipping. The company plans to offer new LTE phones later this year.

FreedomPop also announced new one year and two year unlimited plans today. Customers can buy two years of unlimited voice and text and 500 MB per month of data for $110, making the monthly cost just $4.58/month. The one year unlimited plan is $79.99 for a monthly cost of $6.67. The unlimited plan is available on a month to month basis for  $10.99. FreedomPop's free phone plan, which includes 200 voice minutes, 500 texts and 500 MBs of data is still available. Additional minutes and texts are 1¢/each and additional data is 2.5¢/MB.

Voice service on FreedomPop uses VOIP, which means it uses the network's data transport rather than the voice channel. Users report that voice quality is not very good on Sprint's legacy 3G network, but is quite usable with a good WiFi or WiMAX connection.

In announcing the new plans,  Stephen Stokols, FreedomPop CEO, said "With these new pricing plans we are declaring war on an industry that has for too long taken advantage of consumers and only widened the digital divide. We not only offer 12 months of comparable service for the price of 1 month, but all the billing complexity that frustrates users is gone. There is no need for an annual contract when the total annual cost is under $100."

According to FreedomPop,  the company has signed up nearly half a million users to its FreedomPop beta invite list.
