According the Android news sites Droid-Life and Android Police, the Motorola Moto G for Verizon Prepaid will be available January 9, 2014 for $99.99. Based on a photo posted by Android Police, it looks like one BestBuy store has jumped the gun and already has the Moto G on display and presumably for sale.

The $99.99 price is a substantial discount from the $179.99 price tag of the unlocked GSM version of the Moto G. That's not really a surprise as Verizon has been aggressively subsidizing their prepaid phones lately. Unfortunately if you were thinking of using the Moto G on an MVNO like PagePlus, the subsidized price virtually guarantees that, as with all other Verizon prepaid phones, MVNOs will be blocked from activating the G.

On the other hand Verizon's prepaid smartphone plans are actually fairly competitive:

$70/month, unlimited voice, messaging and 4 GB of data.

$60/month, unlimited voice, messaging and 2 GB of data.

$50/month, unlimited voice, messaging and 1 GB of data.*

* The $50 plan must be activated with a special airtime refill sold by exclusively by Walmart.
