Castleton’s latest restaurant Cenetta has arrived.

The Deckers Hospitality Group’s stunning new Italian is situated on Manchester Road and has been carefully designed to provide diners with a friendly and relaxed environment. Cenetta replaces The Fallen Angels restaurant which closed in January 2015, and boasts a contemporary setting and an authentic Italian menu with Mediterranean influences.

Cenetta has been designed to provide diners with stylish surroundings, which highlight’s the venue’s existing architectural features whilst presenting a whole-new look. The transformation project was implemented by Max Brierley, Managing Director of Deckers Hospitality Group, designed by Sam Tinsley of Tinsley Wood and was completed in February.

Speaking to Premier Hospitality about the work involved in the refurbishment, Sam said:

“Given that this basement project included so many strong architectural features that already existed, the biggest challenge was how to create a whole new look around these dominant features. The original bar is a marble alter that was salvaged by the client, from a demolished convent many years ago. Max and I decided to embrace these features and supplement them with neutral colours, reclaimed wood cladding and encaustic style tiles to elude to the Italian menu.

“One of the biggest aspects of the refurbishment has been the decorating. The new colour scheme is much lighter than it was previously and we have added large scale lettering to the walls to give a more contemporary feel. There was previously no overhead lighting, so the introduction of a new suspended lighting scheme which meanders down the length of the restaurant has helped to visually ‘lift’ the vaulted ceiling and create a strong feature of the restaurant. The vision that Max and I had for the scheme was to create a space that was atmospheric and relaxed but still stylish.”

Lighting Plus Ltd manufactured and supplied all of the lighting on Cenetta. Lighting Plus Ltd has a fantastic and long-standing working relationship with Sam, having worked on many projects with Sam in the past.

Dave Bradley of Lighting Plus Ltd, said:

“Sam will ring us up and tell us what she requires. As we specialise in lighting for the hospitality sector, such as hotels and pubs, we can provide bespoke lighting to suit any client’s requirements.”

Whilst the bar has remained the same, Sam’s new design has seen the existing resin panels removed from the columns and replaced with Fired Earth tiles and metal work. The kitchen has also benefitted from a few improvements here and there, including new ovens and an extension to the canopy.

Tinsley Wood’s diverse and imaginative portfolio showcases a whole range of projects, from a single bedroom to a one and a half million pound commercial refurbishment, making them the perfect choice for Cenetta.

Sam said:

“The project ran very smoothly – in fact, it is one of the first projects where we found ourselves handing over with a few hours to spare. The biggest challenges that we encountered were things that were simply out of our control. For instance the snow caused a couple of problems, but it was nothing we couldn’t work around.”

Prior to running her own practice, Sam worked for the Deckers Hospitality Group as part of the in-house design team. The Deckers Hospitality Group is a leading name in the hospitality industry, providing customers with high quality food and drink in desirable venues.

Established in 1989, Deckers Hospitality Group oversees some of the best-loved restaurants and hotels in the region, including The Peacock Room, Pennine Manor and The Royal Toby.

Since leaving Deckers Hospitality Group Sam has worked on a few projects with the company, including Crimble Hall.

Commenting on Sam’s approach to work, Managing Director of Deckers Hospitality Group, Maxwell Brierley, said:

“The most important thing about Sam is that she is a delight to work with. Fun, stylish and full of energy she is creative, innovative and current without an obsession for any particular style. Sam has created highly successful schemes for our business which function practically, aesthetically and commercially. Projects Sam has completed for us have included nightclubs, restaurants, hotels, bars, pubs, residential accommodation and even a water sports centre – Sam approaches any project with the same energy and enthusiasm whatever the style or budget.”

Max added:

“Sam’s contacts with suppliers and contractors supplement her own wonderful skills. If you need someone to design and specify any interior project Sam will rise to the challenge. She will work to your brief but can do so much more if you let her: happy to work with you on your own ideas but will challenge them, brilliant at making spaces work for those that use them, and will deliver you an end result that will exceed your original vision.”

Cenetta’s menu includes a range of tasty dishes, from pasta Dolcelatte gnocchi, served with pine nuts, pesto and rocket to wild mushroom & spinach risotto with spinach, shallots, white wine, and parmesan, topped with truffle oil. Other dishes on the menu include paella with chicken, chorizo, mussels, squid, prawns and paprika; shellfish tagliatelle with tomato, oregano, mussels, squid, pawns and black olives; and beef fillet & Dolcelatte pizza, with mozzarella, strips of beef fillet, mushrooms, red onion, capers, rocket and balsamic reduction.

In addition to main courses, Cenetta also serves up a range of sides and salads, such as parmesan polenta chips, rocket & parmesan salad, seasonal vegetables, crispy deep fried courgettes and Cenetta onion rings.

A big focus of Cenetta is the family experience, so children have been carefully considered when it comes to providing the correct dishes on the menu. Cenetta’s Create Your Own Pizza option presents younger diners with the opportunity to build their own delicious pizza dish with a range of toppings.

To round out the menu, Cenetta presents a far too tempting selection of desserts which includes many old favourites. Desserts include tiramisu served with a shot of Amaretto; iced lemon parfait with raspberries and a warm white chocolate sauce; and vanilla panna cotta forest fruit compote & biscotti. A selection of ice creams and sorbets, as well as a cheese platter are also available.

“It is very nice for Deckers to come to me automatically when they are thinking of anything that uses soft furnishings. I always try to meet their individual needs.

“I also love the creativity of the scheme; it is a challenge as Deckers like their places to be individual and so we create things that are off the wall and funky to makes the venue more exciting. I pride myself on the quality of my workmanship and continually strive to meet customers needs.”
