The construction of 22 self catering units at Jersey’s Les Ormes Leisure Resort is well underway and is set to reach completion by the summer of 2014.

The three bedroom apartments are being constructed alongside the sites vast array of Lodges, Farmsteads, Apartments, Villas, Cottages and leisure facilities.

Works began to construct the three bedroom units on the site in St Brelade in September 2013 and comprises the second phase of development at Les Ormes which already boasts an impressive range of facilities. Works are progressing well so far on site with the structures up and waterproofed; the cladding is on track as is the internal first fix.

Some units are further along in the construction process than this but most are currently at this stage. Lead architect on the project Ian Alder, from Riva Architects, said the scheme is so far running smoothly and no difficulties have been encountered as of yet.

Upon completion the apartments will contain three bedrooms and self catering facilities. The units are being traditionally decorated with a series of tiled and carpeted floors, as well as plastered walls. The apartments will be fully furnished allowing guests to simply relax as soon as they walk through the door.

Main contractors Houze Construction Ltd have been responsible for making this latest phase a reality and are currently well on target for completion.

Les Ormes has been built on a former campsite and was developed during the 1980s and 1990s to become the golf and leisure complex it is today. Les Ormes was created for the benefit of the local community, however a while ago the site’s owners saw the opportunity to provide self catering accommodation units for tourists, to enhance what the site already had to offer.

The site boasts a nine hole golf course, indoor tennis and football, high-ropes park, a restaurant, BBQ areas and a new outdoor pool which is set to open in July 2014. All guests staying at Les Ormes will have unlimited access to the outdoor pool and are assigned three allocated slots per day. A new toddlers play park is also due to be unveiled in July and ensures that guests always have something to do.

The restaurant also offers food and beverage packages that can be booked in during guests stays or before their visit. There are also activities for all the family including indoor soft play, a high ropes park, hair and beauty salon. On the waterfront in St Helier Les Ormes operate Jersey Marine Lake and offer kayaking and paddle boarding.

Les Ormes offers various extra services which guests can take advantage of for a small fee. These services include five star housekeeping facilities, grocery and toiletry packs, loungers and parasols hires, as well as late checkout.

The previous phase of works on Les Ormes comprised the construction of eight two-bedroom self catering units, seven two-bedroom staff accommodation units and some associated ancillary accommodation. This phase of work on the scheme began in September 2012 and reached completion by April 2013. Camerons acted as the main contractor, with architectural services being provided by Riva Architects as they are currently.
