Closing arguments begin today in the Michael Slager trial. Slager was a North Charleston police officer when he shot Walter Scott in the back after a traffic stop for a broken tail light. He’s also accused of trying to plant a weapon near Scott’s dead body in the sight of a fellow officer who backed him up. Slager took the stand on Tuesday in his own defense and testified that he got into a struggle with Walter Scott when the man grabbed the officer’s Taser. The video taken by a witness showed no such thing. In fact, it showed Scott running away from the officer.
