Qatar National Library (QNL) is organising a number of events and training sessions this month for all residents of Qatar. Scheduled events include a book discussion and practical training sessions on the online databases currently offered for free for all residents of Qatar through the QNL website.

Several practical training sessions will be organised to help residents familiarise themselves with the ‘SpringerLink’ and ‘CREDO Reference’ online databases. ‘SpringerLink’ is an eBook and journal online database specialising in science, technology and medicine. It has titles in many different subjects. The ‘SpringerLink’ training sessions, offered in collaboration with Springer Publishing Company, will be held on 11 March, and will be offered in both Arabic and English.

‘CREDO Reference’ offers a mixed collection of reference resources such as encyclopaedias, dictionaries, thesauri, biographies, and more. The ‘CREDO Reference’ training sessions will be held on 17 March.

QNL is also organising its regular monthly book discussion. This month, the book discussion will look at ‘The Book Thief’, a worldwide bestselling novel, written by Australian author Markus Zusak. Although written for young adults, the novel appeals to all ages and was recently released as a feature film. The event will be held on 12 March between 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm at the Clubhouse in Qatar Foundation’s Education City.
