PPAI Welcomes Denham, Hullinger and Hareid To The Association’s Board Of Directors

PPAI announced the results of its 2014 Board of Directors election last week. The Association welcomes Dale T. Denham, MAS+, CIO of distributor Geiger, and Norm Hullinger, CEO of supplier alphabroder, to its board. In addition, Scott Hareid, president of multi-line representative agency Hareid Marketing, has been appointed as the RAC Delegate to the PPAI board.

Ennis, Inc. Acquires Hoosier Data Forms

Supplier Ennis, Inc. (UPIC: ennis), based in Midlothian, Texas, has acquired Hoosier Data Forms in Indianapolis, Indiana. Hoosier Data Forms produces traditional snap-outs, continuous forms and cut sheets along with additional value-added services. John Cornelius, previous owner of Hoosier Data Forms, will remain with Hoosier in a sales and management capacity.

Labor Department Reports Job Openings At Highest Level Since January 2001

The Labor Department’s Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey (JOLTS), released today, reports 4.8 million job openings in the U.S. on the last business day of August, up from 4.6 million in July and the highest level of job openings since January 2001.

Distributor Quintain Marketing Hosts Grand Opening At New Offices

Annapolis, Maryland-based Quintain Marketing (UPIC: Quintain) opened its new offices October 2. The distributor held a grand opening event at its new facility at 1819 Bay Ridge Avenue. On hand were Mike Busch, speaker of the Maryland House of Delegates, Delegate Herb McMillan and staff members from the office of Anne Arundel County Executive Laura Neuman.

PPAI L.E.A.D. 2015 Applications Now Open

PPAI is now accepting applications for L.E.A.D. 2015. On May 20-21, 2015, PPAI members and staff will meet with senators, congressional representatives and their legislative staffs on Capitol Hill to discuss pending legislation and issues relevant to the promotional products industry. PPAI will provide L.E.A.D. participants with appointment-setting support, research on members of Congress, position papers for appointments, L.E.A.D. day support and pre-event briefing sessions. The application for participation is due no later than October 30. PPAI will notify applicants of their participation on December 15. Regarding any questions about the application, contact PPAI Government Relations Manager Seth Barnett.

As part of its Green Chemistry Initiative, California’s Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) named apparel, beauty, personal care and hygiene as categories under the initiative’s purview in a Safer Consumer Products (SCP) Draft Priority Work Plan.

Chocolate Inn/Taylor & Grant (UPIC: CHOCINN) has named Shelley Bednarski the Freeport, New York, supplier’s new Southeast regional sales manager. Bednarski, a 13-year veteran of the promotional products industry and current treasurer of the Promotional Products Association of Florida, will be responsible for managing a team of multi-line reps in the Southeast, developing sales strategies with key accounts and exhibit at trade shows.

Sarah Furth has transitioned within supplier Beacon Promotions, Inc. (UPIC: BEACONP) to join its marketing team as an ecommerce specialist. A graduate of Winona State University, she began her career at New Ulm, Minnesota-based Beacon as a customer service representative. In her new role, Furth will be responsible for working with distributors to showcase Beacon’s products on their websites.

Sharon, Massachusetts, supplier Charles River Apparel (UPIC: CRA) has added three outside sales representatives to handle growing accounts in Texas, Oklahoma and western New York and Pennsylvania. Sharon Wohlleber, a partner and executive vice president of Hartley-Wohlleber & Associates Sales & Marketing Agency, will focus her sales efforts in south Texas. Scott Schaefer is Charles River’s new western New York and western Pennsylvania rep, while Scott Blankenship will cover North Texas and Oklahoma.

The Regional Association Council (RAC) announced its 2015 Executive Officers and new board members at the 15th annual Leadership Development Workshop, held last week in Grapevine, Texas. A Distributor Asks: When my client received an order of logoed pens, they were in pristine shape. Months later, my client mentioned in an email that she used the pens at an outdoor event and noticed that the printing came off of some of the pens while they were in use. What, if anything, should I do at this point to make up for this?
