The Presidency, has said that the results of the medical tests conducted on President Muhammadu Buhari, are out.
The position of the Presidency, was contained in a statement signed by Presidential Spokesman, Femi Adesina, on Tuesday.
In asking for an extension of his vacation period in the United Kingdom, UK, on February 5, President Buhari had told the Senate that he was expecting the results of some tests carried out on him.
According to Adesina, with the results out, it has become evident that Buhari needed more time to rest.
He said in the statement: “President Muhammadu Buhari thanks millions of Nigerians who have been sending good wishes and praying for his health and well-being, in mosques and churches throughout the country.
“The President is immensely grateful for the prayers, show of love and concern.
“President Buhari wishes to reassure Nigerians that there is no cause for worry.
“During his normal annual checkup, tests showed he needed a longer period of rest, necessitating the President staying longer than originally planned.”
Recall, that Buhari’s health had been the subject of intense of debate and concern, leading to rumours of his death about two weeks ago. While denying such and working to douse its spread, many top ranking state officials have visited the ailing President, with pictures of each visitor syndicated to convince Nigerians that the President was still alive.
Among those who have visited are: Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senate President, Bukola Saraki, Speaker House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogora, and Aisha, the President’s wife.
Beyond these visits and a phone conversations he was said to have had with President Donald Trump of the United States, US, there are no records of Buhari undertaking any public outing, since arriving London, on January 19.
Public demands for the ailing President to speak to Nigerians via a broadcast of any form, has been rebuffed by the Presidency who claim that it is within his rights to choose when to speak to his countrymen.
