In the heat of the several reactions trailing the wife of the President, Aisha Buhari’s comments, that she may not back her husband, President Muhammadu Buhari, at the 2019 elections, unless he (the President) reshuffles his cabinet, latest report indicates that she may be gunning for the highly sought after position.
Recall, that Aisha Buhari, had in a recent BBC Hausa interview, expressed her displeasure in President Buhari’s government, saying that the President does not know most of the appointees in his cabinet.
She also suggested that the President’s government had been hijacked by a few people, who were behind the Presidential appointments.
Following the controversy that accompanied her outburst, a cross section of Nigerians have been calling on her to take a shot for the Presidency, come 2019, with many nick naming her the ‘Hilliary Clinton of Nigeria’.

Although, following her explosive interview, she has been hit with a lot of backlash, with many criticizing her over her comments, while revoking their support.
Meanwhile, the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has done the complete opposite, stating its support for the First Lady, while offering her a party membership card.
Alhaji Abdullahi Jalo, the former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, likened President Buhari to US presidential candidate, Donald Trump, while claiming that he “scandalizes women”.
Jalo, stated that since Buhari claims to not know what party his wife belongs to, she should join the PDP, as they are ready to give her a membership card.
“As far as I am concerned, she has done the work of an opposition, and if she decides to join us, she will have a good reception,” Jalo had said.
Recently, Aisha stormed Brussels, Belgium, to attend the Crans Montana African Women’s Forum, where Women Heads of State and Government, Ministers, Ambassadors, Parliamentarians, Businesswomen, Activists, Heads of Organizations globally, gathered to address the role of women, in the fight against radicalization and terrorism.
At the event, Aisha Buhari was conferred a special award for her numerous efforts in protecting the girl child, and addressing the challenges of women in Nigeria.
According to a statement by her Special Adviser on Media, Adebisi Ajayi, he said that Aisha was presented the award by Didier Reynders, Belgian Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs.
Aisha’s giant strides have traveled leaps and bounds, as many All Progressives Congress, APC, chieftains have thrown their weight behind her.
First, it was Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, who called on Buhari, to heed the advice of his wife, Aisha, and other Nigerians to rejig his cabinet.
“Quite frankly, I’m a Governor, and I know where the shoe pinches more.
“If there is a clarion call for Mr. President to take a look at his cabinet, and bring in more people, there is nothing wrong,” Okorocha had said.
Also, the APC Spokesman, Timi Frank, says Aisha Buhari deserves commendation, because she spoke the minds of not only the party members, but Nigerians, in the recent BBC interview.
Frank, called on Nigerian women in politics, and other wives of Presidents in the world, to emulate Aisha Buhari.
The APC Spokesman, added that Aisha Buhari made her feelings known in good faith, for the betterment of Nigeria and Nigerians.
