The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has implicated the Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi; the Acting Chairman, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Magu; and a Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Jafaru Isah, over their alleged involvement in corruption related issues.

The party called on President Muhammadu Buhari, to prosecute his friends, who allegedly collected money from the former National Security Adviser, NSA, Sambo Dasuki.

The Spokesperson of the Senator Ahmed Makarfi-led Caretaker Committee, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, who stated this in a statement, revealed that Buhari’s anti-corruption war, was mainly targeted at members of the opposition party.

This statement came as a PDP Chieftain and former Governor of Kastina State, Ibrahim Shema, was arrested and charged for corruption, by the EFCC.

Adeyeye, dismissing it as a political witch-hunt, particularly mentioned Col. Jafaru Isah, a friend to Buhari, who was alleged to have collected money from Dasuki.

“Rotimi Amaechi and Ogbonaya Onu, should also be prosecuted, because of the allegation leveled against them, by two suspended Supreme Court Judges,’’ he said.

He also demanded the prosecution of Magu, and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, over allegations of corruption against them.

“But while Dasuki and some of those who allegedly took money from him during the regime of former President Goodluck Jonathan, are currently being prosecuted for corruption, Isah, a member of the All Progressives Congress, APC, was said to have just returned money to the Federal Government.

“What has happened to Jafaru Isah, a political friend of President Buhari, who was also accused of collecting money from the former National Security Adviser?

“None of these people are standing trial, and none of them are in court for prosecution, because they are members of the APC. We therefore, further call on the APC-led administration to stop the persecution of political opponents in Nigeria, for its false corruption chase.”

Adeyeye, added: “It is obvious today to all and sundry in Nigeria and in the Diaspora, that those under trial by the court on corruption charges, are the perceived enemies of President Muhammadu Buhari[ his party, the APC; and political enemies and rivals of some APC leaders in the country”.

Adeyeye described Shema as a political son of the late former President, Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, who he said defeated Buhari in the 2007 Presidential election, on the platform of the PDP.

He added, that Shema defeated the candidate of the defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party, ANPP, a supposed choice of President Buhari, in the Governorship election in Katsina State, in both 2007, and 2011.

To further allude to his belief that Shema was being persecuted, Adeyeye stated that as the Governor of Katsina State, Shema had supported the choice of former President Jonathan, against Buhari, in the 2015 Presidential election.
