The district recently announced high school senior Zachary Graziano as a National Merit semifinalist. The National Merit Scholarship Program is an academic competition for recognition and scholarships that high school students enter by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test and by meeting program entry and participation requirements. Zachary is one of only 16,000 students throughout the country to achieve this honor, which signifies that he is among the highest-scoring entrants in New York State.

“Zachary is a multi-talented student who excels in all academic areas,” stated science teacher and Science Olympiad coach Michel Krivosta. “He has a very outgoing personality and loves to be with people. He is a natural leader.” Zachary is one of the top students on the High School Science Olympiad Team and has won numerous medals at competitions. He is also captain of the Academic Team.

Zachary began as one of the 1.5 million high school students who took the PSAT/NMSQT last October. Semifinalists who have advanced to finalist standing by meeting high academic standards and all other requirements will be notified this coming February.
