The Lower School Teacher should be able to teach students in grades one through four. This teacher will be able to work both independently and collaboratively and will be able to teach effectively from the established grade level curriculum. This teacher will be assigned to teach one particular grade as a part of a grade level team.
Broad Responsibilities:
- Creates a learning environment that encourages a love of learning and respect for others.
- Establishes and actively maintains a class environment where excellence in learning is honored and where respectful interactions between and among students are valued.
- Employs a variety of instructional techniques and assessments which address multiple learning styles.
- Participates as an active team member with the other grade level faculty as well as the Lower School community as a whole.
- Works ably with teachers in grades 1 - 12 in a specific curricular area.
- Communicates effectively with all constituencies within the School.

- Appreciates and enjoys interacting with Lower School students and partnering with their families in their student's overall development.
- Shows evidence of organization, punctuality, and self-motivation.
- Exhibits an ability to work effectively and collaboratively with the grade level team and all Lower School teachers.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Degree in elementary education or early childhood education, preferably.
- Related teaching experience, preferably in independent schools.
Reporting: The Lower School Teacher reports directly to the Head of Lower School.
Salary: Salary offer will be commensurate with experience.
