League of Legends developer Riot Games is making an effort to improve the experience new players have, with changes coming after today's release of patch 4.1, the studio announced today.

Riot is setting up a "stable roster of free champions" for new players to use, said Chris Tom, who handles player relations and communications for the studio. "These champions were picked because of how easy they can be learned and how enjoyable most new players find them."

Those changes are coming "at a later date," and for now, update 4.1 mostly contains refinements and tweaks to the way champions, items and maps work. And according to Tom, in-game vision should be "more responsive and dynamic" after the patch.
