When I think of Drybar, I think of sipping on bubbly while enjoying a blowout, watching chick-flicks on the big screen. I also think of Alli Webb, the fierce founder and genius behind the cool-girl hair salon concept. I’ve loved Drybar since they opened its doors to Washingtonians.

And now, here I am spreading the holy hair gospel about Alli Webb’s latest accomplishment—her first book, The Drybar Guide to Good Hair for All. I’m so excited for her new book because now I can learn how to get my beloved Mai-Tai blowout at home, plus so many tips, tricks and hair secrets.

Read on to learn more about Alli Webb’s new book and details on her book signing happening TODAY in the District!

It’s been five years since Drybar opened its doors to the DC area. And now you’ve written your first book! Congrats! What inspired The Drybar Guide to Good Hair For All?

Alli Webb: “Has it already been 5 years?! Man, time flies… We are so incredibly grateful for our clients and amazing stylists in DC! The book, The Drybar Guide to Good Hair for All, is what I believe to be the perfect guidebook to great hair (when you don’t have access to a pro blowout at Drybar). Being a naturally curly-haired-always-struggled-with-my-hair girl and a long-time professional stylist, I have accumulated thousands of tips, tricks and hair secrets over the years. So I couldn’t be more to excited to share all I’ve learned with the world! And if there’s one thing I’ve learned for certain; great hair equals a ton of confidence!”

Being able to pull off the perfect at-home blowout seems elusive. I’m probably one of many, but I’m terrible at doing my own hair! What can we expect from this book that will help ladies like myself achieve a gorgeous blowout at home?

AW: “The book really breaks down, step-by-step, how to do all of our signature styles, plus it includes a ton of other extremely useful information, like figuring out your hair personal hair type, which brush is best for you, what sectioning is all about, and the list goes on and on… I’m so happy to be helping women solve their own personal hair mysteries!”

What would you say is the most important hair tool every woman should invest in?

AW: “A professional blowdryer! It’s really worth the investment and will really affect not only the way your hair looks, but the condition of it. A blowdryer with ionic technology, like Drybar’s Buttercup, makes all the difference and will leave your hair shiny and bouncy. A cold shot button is also key after a blowout is completed to help lock in your style. We designed Buttercup to be super lightweight, yet powerful enough for us to do over 100,000 blowouts a month at Drybar!”

I’m sure these come few and far between but have you ever had a bad hair day? Any tips or style suggestions on how to manage those bad hair days?

AW: “Yes! Of course, we all have bad hair days, but I do have a lot of tricks up my sleeve for how to deal with them… The answer is usually having some products in you bag, like Detox Dry Shampoo and Chaser Shine Cream to help you combat frizz and get rid of dirty, oily hair. And having our 3-Day Bender on hand can really fix anything! I don’t travel with out it! The Drybar Guide to Good Hair for All is full of tips to help you get through a bad hair day, I promise! P.S. When all else fails, tame a wild mane with a high ponytail.”

With the holiday season right around the corner, any hairstyle inspiration or recommendations we can find in this book?

AW: “My two favorite holiday looks are the Cosmo-Tai, which is the perfect combo of the Cosmo (lots of loose curls) + the MaiTai (messy beachy hair), and of course, our Uptini (up-do) which is always a fun idea that makes you feel a little more fancy. Both are festive and perfect for a glamorous holiday party! The Drybar Guide to Good Hair for All walks you through how to create a Cosmo-Tai at home, and section 4, titled ‘Beyond the Blowout’ has great tips for ponytails, buns and braids to change up your holiday look!”

Time is almost always never on my side. What tips and tricks do you recommend for DIY hairstyles for women on the go?

AW: “Blowout your hair on Sunday, or when you have a solid 30-45 minutes to give yourself a proper blowout – it will last you for days. Also, invest in a good dry shampoo like Drybar Detox Dry Shampoo or our Triple Sec 3-in-1 to really help extend the life of your blowout and make your style last.”

Beauty junkies love to know what beauty experts like yourself are using. Any favorite beauty products you’re obsessed with right now? (can be makeup, hair, skin, etc)

AW: “I love a good liner for my water line, and I’m obsessed with Urban Decay’s 24/7 Glide-On Pencil. Also in love with Too Faced Pink Leopard Blushing Bronzer, Glossier Boy Brow and the Becca Enlightenment Illuminizing Wand. And of course, I always have some Chaser Shine Cream with me for shine & texture!”

If you live in the District, Alli Webb will be at Drybar’s Penn Quarter location TODAY from 4-6 p.m. signing copies of her new book! I so, so wish I could be there but hopefully there are plenty of Insta photos so I can live vicariously through all of you!
