The Finance Dublin International Securitisation Conference heads of 2007 were an impressive crew. The (shortened) pen pictures below, taken from the conference website which is still live, tells of their varying roles - accounting, legal, ratings, banking, insurance - in the alphabet soup of arcana we learned about too late: CMBS, CDOs, ABS, ABCDS, RMBS, LIBOR and so on. A greater collection of European securitised finance experts and promoters would be hard to find. Their Dublin conference must have been unmissable for those in the business.

Within months of their Gathering in Dublin in late 2007, the structures and 'products' they helped devise, sell and grew wealthy on, blew up, changing the lives of millions of people across the Western world.

The list and their short self-penned biographical details are even more impressive if you see their educational achievements - available on the site.

The number of participants advising or previously advising governments, or drafting legislation, or rating the products, casts an indirect light on the way office holders in Ireland and other countries failed to protect people from bright salesmen of financial snake oil - leaving us in unimaginable collectivised debt with political leaders sneering in self- justification that 'we all partied' as they pulled the cord to open their lifelong golden parachutes.

The list is long but I hope you find it of some historical interest and maybe even of some current relevance.
