Sen. Grace Poe challenged detractors on Tuesday (Jan.26, 2016) to first authenticate the DNA results allegedly coming from Sen. Ferdinand Marcos Jr, which would prove that the two senators are related to each other.

Poe said she is grateful for those who try to help her find her biological parents.

“Ako ay nagpapasalamat sa pagmamabuting loob ng ibang tao sa pagtulong sa aking paghahanap sa mga tunay kong kaanak sa dugo,” she said.

“Bago pa man ako magkomento kung dapat ikonsidera ang paghahambing, alamin din nila mismo kay Senator Marcos ang authenticity ng pribadong bagay na ito,” Poe said.

Poe issued the statement after some members of the Senate media received a white paper, supposedly containing the “personal test certificate” of one “Mr. Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.”

“DNA isolation was carried. Genetic characteristics were determined by PowerPlex 21 PCR kit. In parallel, positive and negative controls were performed which gave the expected and correct results,” the form read.

The form came with a note, which reads: “This is Sen. Bongbong Marcos’ DNA result. Compare this with that of Sen. Grace Poe and you will see that they are related.”

The results were sent thru snail mail, purportedly coming from First Technik Philippines Inc with address at 2310 Legarda, Sampaloc in Manila.

While Poe and Marcos separately treat as a joke the “urban legend” that Poe was sired by the late president Ferdinand Marcos, the two lawmakers have not consented to proper DNA testing to negate the reports.

Poe earlier said there is no need to compare DNA tests with Marcos since she is sure that they are not related by blood. Marcos had been jokingly acknowledging Poe as his “sister”.
